Recommended Philosopher: Immanuel Kant
Yes, those who speak German are already snickering. Let’s move on.
For those who don’t know who Immanuel Kant is, this is a good place to start.
I tend to focus my ideas of moral and ethical constructs as humans see them on the psychological, natural and anthropological points much as I do regarding the idea of G-d. This would seem to be rather different from Kant’s approach which is much more like logic taught in mathematics done in exposition, but I do find him not entirely alien to my mind.
Therefore I recommend these, as you can find at Librivox dot org. If nothing else, you might find your mind a little expanded in the attempt to follow.
The Critique of Practical Reason
Enjoy LibriVox dot org as it is full of public domain works, most of which are narrated by volunteers. I’m giving serious consideration to volunteering a reading or two of my own.
Between the Wikipedia article and his works, you’ll get an idea of his style and what Kant was on about. Very worthwhile if you want to apply logic to the calculation of values and so forth. After reading his stuff, I’m sure you’ll like Kant.
