Parents Should Be Required to Get a License Before Having Kids

This may be farfetched. But, I really think that maybe the time has come that parents be licensed before having kids. Everyday we see evidence of abject stupidity on the part of parents in the care of their children. It is as if they have no clue. I personally feel that children have become part of a “having it all syndrome”. You know: the big house, two cars, high paying jobs, fitness club memberships, a cruise at least once a year. Somewhere in this mix, the child has a place. And with the child, the aspiring couple has it all. The child is just another part of the status symbol of the American family. Couples these days don’t raise their kids, day care does. The parents are so busy keeping up with the Joneses that less and less time is spent nurturing baby. Parents leave baby in hot cars. Baby falls down stairs because mom forgot to put the child safety gate up. There are numerous cases of parents just not paying attention to their children. If you want to have it all, please don’t have a child until you reach your goal. The child you save may be your own.

Good idea, but unenforceable as you should know.  I like laws that will be enforced.  How about the present ones?  Right now on any given minute, about 25% of all drivers do not even have a current license.  You should also admit that if we went after all “parents”, they could not be found.  You think “jails” are full now?  About 50% of people of color’s houses or “places they stay” are absent--totally.  Think about it.  Good idea, but we abandoned this sometime around the early 1960s when the Supreme Court took God out of our schools and courthouses, except theirs.

Another collectivist trying to get more State intrusion in our private lives.  This country has achieved greatness through individualism, not collectivism.  You’re going in the wrong direction, w.

If you don’t know by now, don’t mess with it.

ChiefRZ/robert108. As I said this was hypothetical. I am just sort of frustrated with what is happening to our children. I know it cannot be enforced and I was not really advocating licensing. Just a comment on the state of our society today.
