Paging Al Gore:  It’s Cold and Snowy Over Here!

Forget global warming: Welcome to the new Ice Age:

Snow cover over North America and much of Siberia, Mongolia and China is greater than at any time since 1966.

The U.S. National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) reported that many American cities and towns suffered record cold temperatures in January and early February. According to the NCDC, the average temperature in January “was -0.3 F cooler than the 1901-2000 (20th century) average.”

Posted for the irony, and the human interest, since one bad winter doesn’t mean that the Earth is really cooling—anymore than one hot summer driven by El Nino means it’s really warming.

Trouble is the Gore-iacs want it both ways:  They want to use the data if it confirms, and argue it doesn’t matter, when it tends to contradict their fiercely held beliefs.

The world is in greater danger of freezing up rather than heating up.

I, for one, will be thankful and count my lucky stars if we are blessed enough to go through global warming beyond the very mild warming we have enjoyed thus far. It’s better than the alternative in this ever changing world.

Let’s see.....let me choose. This is a tuffie:

An elevation in temperatures that will cause some melting ice and we may lose some low coastal areas. On the other hand it would open more land that is now ice bound or perma frosted to farming and inhabitation. Hmmmm. OR:

A drop in global temperatures that would shorten growing seasons, cause massive increases in energy use for heating, probable food shortages, and even the eventual return of glaciation, which would REALLY put a monkey in our wrench.

Gee....which one to choose. I’m stumped.
