Our Second Black President

Just war-gaming this election, that is to say, making a Scientific Wild-Ass Guess as to its ultimate conclusion.

Short answer - Obama.

Why?

Many libs have turned on the Clintons. For whatever reason, be it scandal fatigue, feeling betrayed by her support for Iraq, or for reasons only known to a MoveOn-dot-org mind, she is no longer the inevitable Candidate of the Left.

While she has shown good strength in national voting, Obama has shown great strength in just about all quarters and the Lib establishment are coming out to sing the praises of the Obama-n-ation.

On the Republican side, the Not-McCain vote is split between the country club set for Romney and the Bible Belters for the Huckster.

Not unless Romney pulls a Giants-like upset will we have have anyone other than McCain as our candidate, only it seems the Left has been doing a great job of selecting our candidate for us.

Once the initial dust has cleared and, assuming it is down to McCain vs. Obama, the voting has shown the energetic voting is coming out of the Leftists.

While McCain may continue to attract Liberal-Left voters, given a choice between Leftist and Leftist-lite, the scales may come down in favor of Obama, the Leftest Leftist.

Why not McCain? If the 2000 election is any predictor of future trends, elections these days are decided by razor-thin margins. McCain needs Conservatives to put him over the top, and frankly he doesn’t have them.

It remains to be seen if the Talk Radio types will fall into line or remember the serial betrayals of the Conservative cause made by McCain and vocally advocate staying home in droves. I for one won’t need any encouragement to do so, since I will be following Dobson’s lead of not voting for McCain on principal. The anger from Conservatives run deep as does the mistrust of McCain. Any overtures he makes to the Conservatives will have all the believability of Lucy holding the football for Charlie Brown. Anne Coulter has gone so far as to assert that if McCain wins the nomination, she will campaign for Hillary.

While I doubt she will go that far, I think there will be a very great incentive for Conservatives to simply not vote, or perhaps vote for Ron Paul or Fred Thompson in protest.

Not voting for McCain is the only leverage we have left to discipline those Republicans who betrayed us on immigration and a raft of other issues.

If, however, we reward betrayal with votes, there will be no reform, as there is no price to be paid.

Better clear out our party’s deadwood and allow the Left to accept the full blame of the disaster they will bring upon us, as indeed they will with their military retreats, bone-headed energy policy and Politiburo-inspired 5-year Plan economics.
