Hatfield, 30, of Clifton, apparently was unfamiliar with the operation of the .38-caliber semiautomatic handgun he acquired – which he was barred by law from owning as a convicted felon – and would up shooting himself in the crotch.
The incident cost Hatfield a testicle.
“Obviously,” the judge told Hatfield, “you don’t know a whole lot about firearms. You need to read the directions.”
