Actress Deborah Kerr, who danced with Yul Brynner in “The King and I” and rolled on the beach with Burt Lancaster in “From Here to Eternity”, has died. The actress, who’d been battling Parkinson’s disease, was 86.

Deborah Kerr was a very classy leading lady who was nominated six times for Best Actress Oscars, yet never won, She is the most-nominated leading actress never to win the Academy Award.
Definitely, a black mark on the Academy, if you ask me

My first remembrance of Ms. Kerr is in, “An Affair To Remember” and by far, one of my favorite love stories

Miss Kerr was an actress to remember , a beautiful, eloquent lady who lit up the movies and the stage. They don’t make them that way anymore, she was in a class of her own and she will live forever through her wonderful work which seemed to come so effortlessly, the true mark of an artist. I have loved her ever since I was a child, wanting to emulate her innate grace and serenity which was unique.
Her poignant acting is unmatched to this day, and her special touch to each role she played was so alluring.
Of course she will always be remembered for kissing Lancaster in the surf, dancing with Yul Brynner and making up with Cary Grant in one of the best-loved romances of all time, “An Affair To Remember”

What a marvelous career she had . . . I had forgotten how many great movies she was in.

Alas, an era of movies with real plots/dialog and actors/actresses with memorable personalities gone forever never to be recapture by what passes for Hollywood productions today.

You don’t have to be a moron to be a liberal Democrat but it sure helps.

Hollywood? Screw them. Their standards are slipping.

Go outside of Hollywood. If you don’t mind listening to Portuguese and reading subtitles, I suggest Tropa de Elite and Cidade de Deus. They tell stories coming out of Rio de Janeiro and are both absolutely excellent movies. If you’re looking for torrents, get the Tropa de Elite - Elite Squad 2007 (first cut - eng subs embed) one. I’ll be seeding.

There is a whole ‘nother world out there. Forget Hollywood.
