One Democrat Takes Responsibility for Mortgage Crisis

Artur Davis to “Hannity & Colmes”:
“Like a lot of my Democratic colleagues I was too slow to appreciate the recklessness of Fannie and Freddie. I defended their efforts to encourage affordable homeownership when in retrospect I should have heeded the concerns raised by their regulator in 2004. Frankly, I wish my Democratic colleagues would admit when it comes to Fannie and Freddie, we were wrong. By the way, I wish my Republican colleagues would admit that they missed the early warning signs, that Wall Street deregulation was overheating the securities market and promoting dangerously lax lending practices. When it comes to the debacle in our capital markets, there is much blame to go around for both sides.”

Congressman Davis may not know politically what is best for our country (he’s a democrat), but he undoubtedly displays the character necessary to serve in the congress.  What this man did is exactly what Americans want from every elected official… accountability.  Davis’ behavior in this situation is model.  Could you imagine the trust Americans would have for our government if more elected officials displayed this one quality alone.

Accountability would be nice!

The more these democrats admit their role in this mess, the less credible Obama, Pelosi, and Reid sound on the issue when they blame Bush and the Republicans.  This will make some difference among independents, which is exactly why these democrat leaders will continue to lie.

HG, One thing Dem politicians do very well is LIE!

Show some love!  Here’s a democrat showing backbone and honesty, two requirements for fixing the problem or getting it right next time.  There are A LOT of republicans with dirty hands in this, McCain would be cleaning up otherwise.

Fly,

Did you read the post?  Plenty of “love” was shown in my comments for Davis.  It’s Pelosi, Reid, and Obama that have yet to own up and they won’t.

HG, I was commenting on the comments (internet relationships are sad.) The comments seemed a broadbrushed attack on the democrats in general when Davis was atleast a fairly, sparkling example.

I think you’re right the dem leadership is operating like partisan hackjobs.

McCain should be getting big numbers out of this, boasting about his moral superiority in the issue if he didn’t have so many republicans complicit.  The message “We’re cleaner than the democrats” while true isn’t a made to order campaign slogan.

Mark my words… Mr. Davis will be the next Zell Miller or Joe Lieberman.  For all their talk about diversity and inclusiveness, not to mention the currently in vogue “post-partisan-ism”, Democrats do not countenance dissent.

Davis’ integrity will mark the end of his career as a Democrat.

Democrats do not countenance dissent.

Nope.  Not one little bit.  They get angry when someone disses the KoolAid.

Unfortunately you’re probably correct.  It there was such a thing as integrity within the ranks of democrat leaders Barney Frank would be pressured to resign in light of this mess.

Artur Davis also wrote an article defending Palin’s right to her religious views and dising media and Obama supporters for critisizing her.  The problem here is will he help us understand how his “true Heart” got distorted to the point where he was blinded to the truth?  This committee ignored Greenspan as well, that takes a lot of moxie, this was a hard driven campaign to get every domocratic on committee to drink the Koolaid.  I think USA citizens want to understand that process so we can dismember it.
