OK For Me But Not For Thee

Have you ever noticed that the people who complain about words being put in their mouths are often the same people who ascribe dumb comments made by one liberal to all liberals?

I have.

dumb comments made by one liberal

Do liberals make anything but dumb comments?

Dumb comments made by a liberal...isn’t that redundant?

Mike,

Congratulations!  It is not often that any liberal has the perception or the courage to recognize the nature, if not the sheer volume, of dumb comments made by other liberals.

So why is it exactly that liberals are so adamant in refusing to criticize even the dumbest comments made by one of their own?

You know, Mike, your argument might have been more convincing had to linked to even a single instance or example of what you say is happening!

It’s really about the ideology that is pretty much the basic premise of lefties: Marxism.  You know: social justice, the supremacy of labor over capital, “to each according to his needs, from each according to his abilities”, equality of outcome(not of opportunity), redistribution of wealth from the successful to the less successful to protect their feelings, etc, etc.
Hatred of large corporations, calling conservatives Nazis, trading freedom for the promise of security, believing that govt officials know more than we do about how to live our lives, and on and on.  It’s more like that, actually.

R108,

Ya’ know, its not that “from each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs” that’s so troubling, as much as it is the f**king bureaucrats handling the “from” and “to” in all this, instead of just letting the market handle it all.

There’s a very good reason that the U.S is not, nor was it intended to be, a democracy.

Bat: That’s definitely one of the problems with that belief, but more basically, it’s the principle of the family; the baby needs the most and contributes the least, and so forth.  It just doesn’t transpose into society at large.  We don’t, and shouldn’t, relate to each other as if we are one big family.  We have divergent and conflicting needs, which is why Hillary and other socialists/marxists are always harping about “community” and “sacrifice”.  Under socialism, there isn’t enough for everyone to have what they want, so many have to “sacrifice for the common good”, but in our system, everyone can have what they want, if they are willing to work hard and smart enough to do so.  Many choose not to, but that choice is also acceptable.  It’s not necessary for everyone to be a high achiever for our system to work, only that those who make that choice get rewarded for doing it.  Under socialism, the achievers are punished for making the choice to achieve beyond the norm.  We leave the choice to the individual, they leave it to the collective.

An exhaustive list would have gone far beyond the 5000-word limit, but thanks for noticing.
