Oh Oh

I see that the ranks opposed to same sex marriage have been joined publically by one Khalid Sheik Mohammed, leader of the 911 attack in 2001. I’m confident that this development will not tip the balance in favour of the California Proposition to exclude same sex marraige from Constitutional protection although I am routinely accused of underestimating the threat the jihadist movement poses.

I’m not suggesting that an actual alliance or conspiracy exists to defeat the movement for equality rights...it’s more like a confluence of interests shared by groups with certain fundamental views of what constitutes appropriate behaviour.

I also firmly reject the premise that those sharing Al Qaeda’s opposition to same sex marriage are in any way supporting the goals of international jihadism. It is quite possible to be a patriot and support aspects of the jihadist philosophy IMO. wink

"Equality rights” = marriage means whatever you damn well want it to mean and anybody who opposes whatever definition you come up with is some kind of bigot.

Real classy tying it into some terrorist.

You’re a real asshole sometimes, Mike.

Marriage as defined as a heterosexual endeavor predates radical Islam, so your abject silliness is pointless.
BTW, if you’ve ever been married(real marriage), Mike, you know that the term “marriage equality” is nonsense.

I think gays should be allowed to marry under the law.  My only objection is that gay marriage be established through the consent of the governed.

Marriage is not a right in our constitution, and I don’t happen to think we should be in the habit of reading rights into the constitution that don’t exist there.  If we want the right to exist we should amend the constitution, either of a given state or the constitution for the entire country.

Doing otherwise sets a dangerous precedent for by-passing the consent of the governed.

Anyway, why anyone would think the gay marriage debate has anything to do with the war on terror is beyond me.  Unless you’re dumb enough to think that it’s comparable to the suggestion that those who would see us pull out of Iraq are sharing objectives with the terrorists.

They’re too different things.

We went down that road with “Civil Rights”. The geniuses of that time cemented the inventing of new rights. Now every yahoo complainant cries about a “civil right” or “equal rights” violation every time they don’t get their way.

If you aren’t for gay marriage, you hate America! Why do you want the terrorists to win?!?

What childish buffoonery.

Obama/Biden is not change. It’s more of the same.

This just means that K.D. Lang and the cast of Queer Eye can’t expect political asylum in Muslim countries in the event they throw a hissy-fit if the faux-Republican / crypto-Dem wins the election.

They can expect to get stoned, but not in the Dylan sense.
