Obama’s speech did it!!!

This from M Roseneberg

He did it.

And he did it by listening to the critics and delivering not soaring rhetoric but detailing an agenda, bashing John Mc Cain and explaining precisely how he differs from the Republicans

What a change. I desperately wanted Al Gore and John Kerry to win. But they disappointed me over and over again by not changing when their message and the manner of its delivery were failing. Gore kept being Gore and Kerry kept being Kerry.

But Obama has watched and listened over these past weeks and months, seen what works and doesn’t work, heard the critics and delivered big time.

In other words, Obama listens, learns, and, when necessary, retools. And that is why he is not Gore and Kerry, but FDR, Kennedy, and Clinton.

He’s a resilient, deft politician and he’s going to win. He will do what he has to do, just like he did tonight.

Comments

I’m still not convinced.
I can’t help but feel that there’s an edwards-esque situation coming down the pike.
Of course, mc cain hasn’t convinced me yet, either.

What I thought was funny was Obama trying to out-hawk McCain on Osama bin Laden.

I mean, c’mon.  This is Mr. “The surge won’t work, Iraq is lost” talking.  Does anyone talk him seriously on foreign policy any more?

He obviously forgot that clinton had a shot at OBL & passed on it.

He did it

Read from a teleprompter? He did that quite well! And his speechwriters are better than competent. And there were only a handful of flip flops from his earlier positions. But, the empty suit will reemerge when he has to go toe to toe unscripted with John McCain.

Give the man his dues. He is a great orator. Not a factual orator but a great giver of speeches. After all, who else could get away with saying that we can live with the people owning guns but not AK47’s, while his past history he voted against ALL gun ownership issues. Yet the people cheered. Who else can say that he has a way to pay for all of his plans by saying it will cost money but he will cut taxes for the middle class. Yet, the people cheered. Who else can say that he is ready to debate John McCain while all the time refusing to debate McCain in a open forum. Yet the people cheered. It seems that BS is mighty good eating with some of the people in America. While he speaks about American and free speech, his campaign is trying to shutdown a talk radio show in Chicago for discussing the BO and Ayers connection. Even though the BO campaign was invited to refute the item discussed. His campaign is also trying to get the Attorney General to go after the makers of the Video/commercial pinning BO and Ayers as friends. Each attack by the BO campaign is a direct affront to free speech and as he does more and more of this, I think it will start to wear thin on the average Joe America.

BTW, Wasn’t Hillary’s rap against Obama that while she and McCain had a lifetime of experience, Obama had a speech he made once?
Great! Now he has two!

Yeah, Obama sure “did it”. He lied about where he stands, lied about where his opponent stands, lied about where this country stands, and then attacked the straw men that he had set up.

He did it!

Wait,… he did what?

"He will do what he has to do,” Lie, cheat, steal or kill, whatever it takes. Right, davi?

And his speechwriters are better than competent.

He wrote the speech himself.  I’m sure he had people polish it, but he was the primary author.

So I am supposed to vote for someone who can write a good speach and read a well written speach off of a teleprompter?  Give me a break!  The good news is, if Barry wins, he isn’t going to have the majorities in congress that everyone thinks and hopefully this will slow the government down to a snail’s pace.

By the way, FDR had leadership experience as govenor of New York, Kennedy had leadership experience as a senator and before that a commanding officer in the navy, and Clinton had leadership experience as Govenor of Arkansas, so to compare Barry to these people is like comparing a turd to an apple!

Obama writes his own speeches and is a fantastic oratory, the best I’ve seen since RWR was in office.  I don’t even have any doubt that he is a very bright man, and has a lot to offer.

My problem is that there doesn’t seem to be much substance behind the suit, and what I see, such as his desire to raise the tax rate for upper class Americans, I find repellant.

Class warfare is so 20th century.

Any proof he writes his own speeches? Or just more of the “Legend of The One” BS?

I mean, come on. If he is witting his own speeches why does he need teleprompters at each and every event?

Other than that is what has been reported and his speeches sound the same now as when he was less well known and didn’t have a staff to write them.  Even if you write your own speeches it is still a bitch to memorize a 4700 word speech.  Before teleprompters it’s not like everybody memorized speeches.  They were written down, hence the podium.

So, the great orator, who writes his own speeches, is incapable of speaking convincingly and with authority on any subject unless he has everything written down and fed to him. OK.

Dude, all people use teleprompters, cue cards, paper when delivering a prepared speech.  Lincoln did it, Kennedy did it, Reagan did it, Clinton did it.  Your insistence that it is a character flaw of Obama is asinine.

Who else can say that he has a way to pay for all of his plans [hundreds of billions] by saying it will cost money but he will cut taxes for the middle class. Yet, the people cheered.

Triple-double speak right out of George Oewell’s “1984”

The cult disciples at Jonestown cheered too; right before they drank the poisoned kool-aid.
Great comment Rich !!

hawkie, in a one to one, conversational type exchange he comes off as a stuttering idiot. And you think that is good? Exactly how is that an asset when giving instructions/orders to your Cabinet in a time of crisis. He going to wait until the Cliff’s Notes version is ready?

Juan Williams (NPR) just stated that the obama speech was more
memorable
due to the “spectacle”. He admits that it was “prose & not poetry”
He lauds the 60,000 & the stage & the over-all feeling.......
