Barack Obama has decided to show he’s a military leader by offering to attack Muslim territories in Pakistan if elected. From the Chicago Tribune (and others):
“U.S. Senate candidate Barack Obama suggested Friday that the United States one day might have to launch surgical missile strikes into Iran and Pakistan to keep extremists from getting control of nuclear bombs.”
Pakistan is already a nuclear power. President Musharraf is an ally, hanging on by alternately appeasing and attacking the Muslim extremist element that has repeatedly tried to assassinate him. Clearly a touchy situation, calling for delicate diplomacy.
What does the threat of ‘surgical missile strikes’ mean to people who have already demonstrated their willingness to die in order to cause escalation and instability in the Middle East?
Isn’t it the stated aim of the Democrats to keep us safer?
