Notable Global Warming Facts

This petition has been signed by American scientists.

We urge the United States government to reject the global warming agreement that was written in Kyoto, Japan in December, 1997, and any other similar proposals. The proposed limits on greenhouse gases would harm the environment, hinder the advance of science and technology, and damage the health and welfare of mankind.

There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gasses is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth’s climate. Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth.

The names of over 31,000 American scientists that reject the theory of anthropogenic global warming   have been revealed

Here are just the A’s

Who gives a crap what your group of ‘scientists’ thinks. Looks like a bunch of MDs and whatever whoever made the list felt like typing. The ‘scientists’ that matter would be geologists, climatologists, biophysicists, and so on. Not a bunch of MDs… or whoever you’ve got there… DVMs? The veterinarians deny global warming based on what? The inside of your pet? Gimme a effing break.

Man made global warming is silly anywho. The whole idea treats man as alien of separate from nature in some substantial way that matters. THe idea that we can cure all the woes of everyone is a tart’s faiery tale.

Considering the earth used to be a large ball of radioactive, molten metal… I’d say its fairly livable nowadays!

Al Gore is merely deluded into believing the old Commie Russain ideal that man can gain control over nature and become immortal. Man cannot control nature, especially considering we can’t even bring ourselves to have an accurate grasp of what we are and what nature is… let alone anything else.

Well Sparkless that’s BS which coming from you is normal.

But that’s not a problem.  Show me where the IPCC and whatnot predicted the cooling trend from 1998 to 2008.

I don’t think a single one did.

If YOUR scientists can’t make verifiable predictions than they don’t know what the hell they’re talking about.

If it wasn’t for the novelty value of the “attack the source but endorse the conclusion” model Sparkie came up with, I can’t see that anyone would much “give a crap” what a self-styled philosopher would have to say about “global warming” ... or anything else for that matter.

Toot, Bat, Anna

About the ‘attack the source and agree with the conclusion’ problem. If you present good conclusions from shit arguments, we have no reason to endorse them, nor should we. Now are you guys maintaining that we should get our Environmental science from MD and DVMs? If so, you can berate me all you want - it doesn’t deflect from the assinine attempt to predict weather trends using the opinions of ‘scientists’ who work to make our pets and livestock healthy. You think that conclusion should follow, BAT? You think crap arguments helps your cause in the slightest? It just gets you guys all warmed up to stupidity and leads respectable people to disengage you. Don’t worry though, I will come through and point out the dailykos doily posts you guys decorate your blog with!

Apparently I have let too much personal information out for the ad hominem assholes like BAT - why make an argument when you can just insult someone’s personal life? I have specifically heard Lik, Rob, and the lot urge us all not to play like that, but apparently Bat has an axe to grind! Good - more dailykos tactics from the SABers.

Get an argument and stop calling names, doodoo-faces.

Wait, wait. Now we just need Bikebubba or Bat or Pil to threaten that their friends will beat me up! That’s par for the course around this ‘logical’, ‘critical’, ‘rational’ blog.

I like these two:  Alanis Morissette, High School Diploma, Drew Barrymore, High School Dropout, John Travolta, High School Dropout (now I know how he played such a good “sweat hog”), Al Sharpton, College Dropout (and that was when it was almost impossible to flunk in college).
Now for the MD faux argument:  Just a cursory glance at the A’s, it appears that a majority have PhDs and not MDs.

The fact remains that 31,000+ scientists have finally “come out” to defend their profession as well as the scientific method.

Sparkie,

I’m not sure why you’ve developed a (modest) rhetorical hard-on for me, but if it will make you any less agitated I can certainly go back to ignoring your comments altogether. The truth is, I do this for the challenge and the intellectual exercise, so overlooking your commentary imposes neither a loss nor a burden.

As for threatening you, I doubt that any of those you mentioned regard your ruminations or rantings as worth that sort of effort.  I certainly don’t.

I wonder if the posters on places like the dailykos would be as sensitive, adult or intellectual.  I think not.  Went there about 3 times.  Almost every other word was an interjection.  Not much thoughtfulness, just a bunch of children crying and playing the game “ain’t it bad”

No argument still? It is a shyte post. I wouldn’t stick up for it either. And my point… stands. Apparently the ‘novelty’ is a bitch, huh Bat?

The fact remains that 31,000+ scientists have finally “come out” to defend their profession as well as the scientific method.

PhDs? That, unfortunately, doesn’t make one a scientist. I will have a PhD soon and I am not a scientist, nor will I be. MDs and DVMs qualify, but not to tell us about the climate.

Yawn.

Not much thoughtfulness, just a bunch of children crying and playing the game “ain’t it bad”

And that differs from here in what specific respect? You just think ‘logical’ is what aligns with your OWN emotional kneejerk bullshyte.

Kettle, meet pot. Pot, this is kettle.

I will have a PhD soon…

Which, when combined with a single dollar bill, will get you a roll of Charmin at any nearby WalMart.

Yawn.

I heartily agree!

Sparkie.  Intelligent people have the ability to use a variety of words to express themselves.  Logical discussions require some type of education.  I commend you on your efforts.  What is your major?

Do you really want to analyze the 31,000 names for their majors?  Before we start, lets decide on classification(s) and what constitutes a scientist.

No, a PhD does not necessarily make one a scientist, but you argued that a MD did not.  Make an assertion so that it can logically be argued and examined.

A scientist, Frederick Seitz, Past President, National Academy of Sciences, U.S.A.
President Emeritus, Rockefeller University said:

To the contrary, there is good evidence that increased atmospheric carbon dioxide is environmentally helpful.

As for threatening you, I doubt that any of those you mentioned regard your ruminations or rantings as worth that sort of effort.  I certainly don’t

Hey sparkless dipshit, you know what persona non grata means?  That’s how I view you.

One of the most important talents for success in politics is the ability to make utter nonsense sound not only plausible but inspiring. Barack Obama has that talent. We will be lucky if we escape the catastrophes into which other countries have been led by leaders with that same charismatic talent.

Liberal nonsense at it’s finest. The site gives no listing of what these people’s profession is, or what their PhD degree is in. So Sparkie assumes they’re all medical doctors and declares their opinions null and void WITH NO EVIDENCE. Simply as a novelty value I did a quick yahoo search on several of the names and could find nothing about them after three pages.

So Sparkie has ONCE AGAIN, made the facts fit his agenda, regardless of the truth.

It’s all political bullshit. Liberals (and Robert108) lie and spin and twist and obscure and distract and cheat to protect their guys and hurt the opposing team. It’s like wrestling. They distract the ref while their team mate hits you with a chair. There’s no rule they won’t break, no law they won’t skirt, no crime they won’t forgive as long as they can win.

Another question?

Why the hell do geologists matter? Or biophysicists?

Those two fields are as irrelevant to the discussion as doctors.
