Noose Isn’t Golfweek’s Best Look

LOL, sheesh… Was there really, no one around the office who perhaps, questioned this bright idea before it went to print?
The noose is apparently in reference to the suspension - duh - of Golf Channel anchor Kelly Tilghman, who made a comment involving the word “lynch” when discussing golfers challenging Tiger Woods. As for the cover--yeah, that’s probably one of those ideas that seems a lot better at two am but once out in public it’s like “Oops”.
*shaking head*
UPDATE: Golfweek apologizes, replaces editor over noose cover
Wait, are those the stompin’ feet of thee Almighty Sharpton I hear getting into the middle of this ...

The English hung Scots and and Irish… am I allowed to freak out about nooses?

“Hope is not a method.” - Common Military Saying

The above is a statement of pro activity.  If any Soldier were to tell me that he hoped what he was briefing was going to come to fruition, that would be unacceptable.  We in the Army do not have the luxury to ‘hope’ that things will end well.  Hope will get us killed.  Instead, we must plan and take action.  Hope is not a method.

As a leader I can never ‘hope’ that my Soldiers have the proper training.  I can never ‘hope’ that my Soldiers have the proper logistical supplies.  I can never ‘hope’ that my Soldiers will survive the next mission.  Hope is not a method; I live in the real world.

Before anyone jumps on me… yes, that should have been ‘hanged.’

I’m not why a noose, and references to lynchings, have become evidence of racism.  Certainly blacks were killed by lynch mobs, but then so were horse rustlers up here in the Dakotas during the wild west days.

So what?

Sometimes some people look for things to be offended about, because they enjoy being victims.

When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.

Because you are talking about a black man being lynched in an overwhelmingly white sport.  A sport that often does not allow blacks into their clubs.
