New Battle Over ‘Gays’ In Military
NEW YORK – The issue of gays in the military is about to resurface in Congress in the early days of the Obama administration, with the possibility it could dog the new president much as it derailed President Bill Clinton’s agenda as he took office early in 1993, WND has learned.
The House Armed Services Committee told WND that Rep. Ellen Tauscher, D-Calif., is preparing to submit legislation to the panel that would reverse the 15-year-old “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy and bar discrimination based on sexual orientation. The Clinton administration enacted the “Don’t Ask” policy to allow homosexuals to serve if they do not reveal their orientation.
A top Democratic aide confirmed to WND that Tauscher plans to introduce the legislation to the House in the next several weeks.
The law specifically gives the U.S. military the authority to remove from the military anyone who engages in, attempts to engage in or solicits to engage in a homosexual act.
The Democrats hate the military, always have, always will. They believe in appeasement and unilateral surrender to any enemy rather than fighting. Well, the world has changed a lot since I served and maybe changing this policy will be no big deal; but I find it hard to believe that young straight men, raging with hormones and loving the discipline, training and the idea of defending America will be volunteering in any big numbers for military service if they are going to be subjected to overt sexual advances and sexual behavior of/by homosexuals. Yes, maybe the Air Force or Navy and some elements of the Army, but I believe most Marines and warrior type Army soldiers will reject this and/or we will see a huge decline in militaray readiness and Espirit de Corps among our fighting men!
That is not to suggest homosexuals are not capable of being fighting men of valor and honor, many have in our history; but only that “out of the closet” gays living among mostly heterosexual fighting men will be a disaster to our military!
