ND 2nd Most Corrupt State in Union

I thought that would get your attention!
It seems that some organization named “The Corrupt Crime Reporter” decided that Mississippi was, in fact, the most corrupt state, with Louisiana coming in a dismal third.

Which state, you might well ask, came in as the second most corrupt? New Jersey perhaps? California? New York? Nah.

North Dakota.

Whoa! Check please.

North Dakota? What were the criteria? Speeding tickets not paid on time? Garbage cans not taken in after pick up on Thursdays?

North Dakota?

Damn always second best.

I’m sure you all realize that it’s illegal to push ‘your’ snow off of your driveway onto the city streets.

It does happen, even by members of the city council.

What’s going to happen to US industry when the global warming extremists like John McCain double the price of electricity?  I would think all these factories will close and set up in countries where they aren’t scared of technology.

Proof,

Here is the real Link:

A .pdf file of the actual report can be downloaded too.  They use population in determining their number.  The top eight also includes Montana and South Dakota.  Apparently we live in a very corrupt region.  However Minnesota and Wisconsin (larger pops) rank in the least corrupt.

The article also mentions that Mississippi is not the most politically corrupt entity; it’s actually DC.  10X that of Mississippi.

It’s interesting if you look at the bottom of the report where they give the stats so to speak.

North Dakota had 45 Public Corruption Convictions in the past 10 years and is ranked #2.

West Virginia had 44 Public Corruption Convictions in the past 10 years and is ranked #44.

The difference is W. Virginia has three times the population.  I would also speculate that North Dakota, South Dakota, and especially Montana have more government employess per capita, because of their size relative to their population.  This could skew the results.

Also the ranking is based on convictions.  Maybe North Dakota does a better job of convicting than other state.

Interesting Troy:  My impression is that by and large we don’t have any corruption.  But that of course would be untrue.

I certainly don’t see it accepted or hear it talked about.

I would agree, but we do have 45 convictions, thats a conviction every three months.  What scandals are these?

I don’t ever recall hearing about one.

Of course they’re probably all centered around Minot.

Any state that taxes the income of families more then the whole country does, deserves to be second on this list!(:^(

Louisiana is third? THIRD??? Our elected cockroaches must be slipping. This banana republic’s politicians have long had a reputation for greed, corruption, graft, waste, fraud, incomptence, malfeasance, and deliberate indifference to what’s right or wrong that was unmatched by anyone.

They’ve slipped to THIRD??? I’m disappointed.

Maybe with the spotlight of Katrina on them they’ve cleaned up their act a bit. But....don’t worry, North Dakotans, once that national spotlight dims a bit the cockroaches will start scurrying about looking for crumbs the way they always have.

We’ll be back on the bottom before you know it. WE’RE NUMBER ONE! We’RE NUMBER ONE!

Here in Minot we also have a Loose Animal law.  That means if your dog gets loose and gets picked up you get your name in the paper.  I think we have a loose cat one too.  The only explanation I can think of is that our criminals get caught???? And prosecuted????

Of course they’re probably all centered around Minot.

Caro;, Did you know that in Austin Texas there are hundreds of thousands of loose cats?  Or maybe that was in Texas near Austin???

I remember watching the video about the great Texas cat drives.
You can watch it here.

I looked at that report Troy… and well, it ain’t credible at all. I know a thing or two about domestic corruption and there is one or two missing from the top five & ten and one missing on the most clean list too. Someone just made it up when they were cored. It has no basis in reality… unless they are counting non-mafia corruption.

For once Sparkie may be right! It’s probably just a hatchet job by the Louisiana State Chamber of Commerce to move them down from #1.

For any voter trying to choose between the two candidates for commander in chief, there is no better test than this: When American strategy in a critical theater was up for grabs, John McCain proposed a highly unpopular and risky path, which he accurately predicted could lead to success. Barack Obama proposed a popular and politically safe route that would have led to an unnecessary and debilitating American defeat at the hands of al Qaeda.
