Must See Political Ad

Rush was talking about this political ad on his show today.  It’s hilarious.

According to Rush the Democrats are trying to claim that this ad is racist.  Can you guess why?

The liberals are calling this thing racist.

Does the RNC run any ads that aren’t intended for 12-year-olds?

Dave_Comet on October 25, 2006 at 11:09 am

Rob: I clicked on your link. When you said “liberals are calling this thing racist,” did you mean liberals like former Republican governor William Cohen? Ford’s own opponent, Bob Corker, has asked for the ad to be taken down.

Dave_Comet on October 25, 2006 at 11:12 am

The Republicans are only advertising to people with a sense of humor.  I can see how you wouldn’t understand.

What’s going to happen to US industry when the global warming extremists like John McCain double the price of electricity?  I would think all these factories will close and set up in countries where they aren’t scared of technology.

Is it because they used a black background at the end?

Not even close.  Although it makes as much sense as that.

I think its funny especially the one where the hunter says, yep I guess I have too many guns.

Goon on October 25, 2006 at 02:48 pm

Oh. I know why. Its cause the hunter is in blackface.

Sparkie Arbuckle on October 25, 2006 at 03:47 pm

Nope, it’s because the “Playboy” girl is white and she tells a black man to “call her.”

I’m not surprised nobody got it as I sure as heck don’t think that way either.

The Dems who interject race into everything got all over it.

Whislter I got that one but I don’t see any thing racist about it. How about how Ford shows up at a fund rasing event for his opponent. Thought that was classless.

Funny he admitted to going to the play boy mansion, but the dems still have issues with it.

Goon on October 25, 2006 at 04:22 pm

Again, it’s a Republican former governor who has called this ad racist. You might have a case if it showed Ford making advances toward the girl (instead of vice-versa)--but even that’s a stretch.

I do think the “I guess I have too many guns” line was hilarious.

Dave_Comet on October 25, 2006 at 06:25 pm

I do find this infusion of entertainment in politics worrisome, however. It’s very “Wag the Dog.”

From the link:

Yesterday Russert asked RNC chairman Ken Mehlman five times in a row respond to the Democrats’ phony charges — even though Ken just kept repeating that he didn’t see anything racist about the ad. Later, Russert asked DCCC co-chair Chris van Hollen what he thought of the ad. Van Hollen said he agreed with those who thought the ad was racist.

See also.

One thing to you want to remember is although the ad might sound rediculous or silly to some it has a serious message, this is what we are facing in November if the Dems get control, the dems want to confiscate guns from legal gun owners all in the name of gun control. The Dems, want to tax and tax you hard, even when you die, because we all know paying taxes is a duty of all americans. The Democrats don’t care if you dead, because you owe those taxes and they have their pet projects to pay for.

Rob: So conservatives AND liberals think the ad is racist. I don’t see how this supports your contention.

Dave_Comet on October 25, 2006 at 08:24 pm

Anything, anywhere anyhow- that in any way criticizes the viewpoints of anybody that happens to be a minority is considered racist.
That’s just the way it is with these folks. After all, if one can redirect attention away from a particular issue, by creating a new issue (racism), then the original point of contention gets lost in the liberal fog

Nowadays falsehood stands erect and truth lies prostrate on the ground.

Dave_Comet vomits, Again, it’s a Republican former governor who has called this ad racist.

You’re attempting an appeal to authority argument Dave. If a former governor who is Republican finds that ad racist, then that tells me that he’s just as ridiculous as the rest of the libs who find it racist.

likwidshoe on October 26, 2006 at 02:01 am

Bill Cohen responded to a question about the ad being racist, he did not originate the charge. Do work on that reading comprehension, davey.

Color me embarrassed! It has just been brought to my attention that Harold Ford is a man of color. I went and trawled some pictures and , SHAZAM!, there it is. Though in my defence that is a very light brother. Quinn is discussing this kerfuffle and mentioned Ford is supported by the NAACP. My bad, ofcourse anything said to or about Ford is racist. He is black and a Democrat, so any and everything directed towards him is racist. How silly of me not to realize beforehand. Sderiously, though, I watched the news clips from last week and it never occured to me that Ford was black.

Funny he admitted to going to the play boy mansion, but the dems still have issues with it.

Actually, when asked if he had attended a Playboy party, Ford answered, “I’ve never been to the Playboy mansion.”

Is Ford a slimy politico or a slimy wannabe politico?
It depends on what your definition of “is” is.

For any voter trying to choose between the two candidates for commander in chief, there is no better test than this: When American strategy in a critical theater was up for grabs, John McCain proposed a highly unpopular and risky path, which he accurately predicted could lead to success. Barack Obama proposed a popular and politically safe route that would have led to an unnecessary and debilitating American defeat at the hands of al Qaeda.

I’m guessing that Ford had all of the advantages growing up.  To go back to the race card is ridiculous.

Silly people like Dave and Harold should be ignored.

BTW Most Playboy bunnies I’ve seen are white. Had an attractive black woman given the tag line in the ad, do you think the race baiting Dems would have found that racist and demeaning as well?

Whistler: Would it be redundant to point out to Dave that it was the Dems who managed to find a racial aspect in an ad that no rational person would have?

PS Dave: race baiting has nothing to do with NASCAR, either!

How dense are you? A Republican--that’s the one with the “R"--governor said the ad was racist. Ford’s opponent requested the ad be pulled.

BTW the fact that Ford’s opponent asked that it be pulled is not proof that it was racist, but rather that it was not in keeping with the tenor or taste of the Repuplican candidate. Or as effective…

It’s a pretty easy one to ask that the ad be withdrawn.  That makes the candidate free of any blame.

In fact GWB did that with the Swift Boat Veterans (who didn’t listen) and it wound up likely winning him the election.  It certainly changed the whole complexion of the election.

As I already pointed out to davey, Cohen did not originate calling this ad racist. He only responded to a reporter asking him if he supported that call. From all I have read and heard this was started be a rep from the NAACP, and has mushroomed from there. No one in particular, that I have heard about, has claimed to be the instigator in this issue.

2hotel9: Does it matter who started it? Some Republicans and some Democrats have claimed this ad is racist. I disagree. But when Rob and The Whistler write comments like: “The liberals are calling this thing racist,” they’re not telling the whole story. They’re only blaming Democrats when members of the other party are doing the same thing.

Dave please accept my apologies.  I should have said that liberals, Democrats and other idiots were calling this racist.

It matters who started it, because Democrats started it. Cohen did not claim it was racist, he responded to a question about whether it was racist or not. Your dancing about and spinning does not change the basic fact that Democrats immediately whipped out the race card. For a candidate whom they have to tell people is black. Now spin for us some more, davey.

Dave_Comet on October 26, 2006 at 03:20 pm

Dave, I’m beginning to smell something fishy here.  How exactly did he phrase it.

The fact though that one politician claims that it is racist whether he be a Republican or a Demoncrat doesn’t make it racist no matter how hard you push it.

Dave_Comet on October 26, 2006 at 03:40 pm

Dave the Democrats as a party are saying that it was racist.  You are talking about one Republican.

All of the Democrat part operatives outweigh one Republican who was ambushed in an interview.

I really have to wonder why your obsessed on this.

So Dave’s still beating the racism drum! BTW Dave, when was the last time you gave so much credence to the utterance of a Republican? Are you following the MSM habit of only quoting Republicans when they say something derogatory of other Republicans???

The ad is innocuous. It’s critics are fatuous. Or dishonest...or both!
