Oh Freep, you silly ass…

Even Tancredo is backing away from this “North American Union” nonsense.

Get a clue.

Get a clue.

Maybe he needs his avatar replaced again.

What’s going to happen to US industry when the global warming extremists like John McCain double the price of electricity?  I would think all these factories will close and set up in countries where they aren’t scared of technology.

She is a fine looking speciman.

If you know what I mean.................

As much as I disagree with the President’s policies on illegal immigration, he is not trying to create a North American Union and anyone suggesting he is is out on Daily Kos-type nutty land.

Well you’re certainly entitled to your opinion, but that’s not something I agree with.

Ask yourself, why is the Bush Admin fighting so hard to lower the bar on border security, immigration, and enforcement?

If Canada and Mexico were going to be brought up to our standard constitutionally I would not have a problem with this. That is not the case. We will be dragged into the sewer where they are. Don’t agree? Why are trucks carrying freight from Mexico and Canada into America not held to the same safety and operational inspection standards as trucks going from America into Mexico and Canada? Why do they get waivers to operate in America while our trucks, which are required to maintain a higher safety and operational standard, are forced to pay for inspection and tariff stamps theirs do not have to carry? And why did the Bush Admin bring this system into exsistance?

Not opinion, Rob. It is what the Bush Admin has been, and is, doing.

Ask yourself, why is the Bush Admin fighting so hard to lower the bar on border security, immigration, and enforcement?

Because they’re trying to appease a) their supporters in the business world who like the cheap labor and b) a growing hispanic voting bloc.

Don’t create complicated explanations where simple ones suffice.

Free trade is NOT turning over our sovereignty.

Sorry to burst your conspiracy bubble, freeloader.

Do you know how many internationalist things Bush has opposed?

The international court
The Kyoto treaty
The UN “Law of the Sea” treaty
Conventions On The Rights Of The Child Treaty

I could go on, but you get the point.  Bush is the guy who appointed Bolton to the UN, remember?

You can’t ignore his staunch support for American sovereignty just because he’s been getting it wrong on illegal immigration.  You can’t attribute is actions to internationalist, “new world order” motives when there are simpler explanations.  Like a desire to appease business interests and Hispanic voters.

You guys are taking Bush’s stance on one issue and extrapolating it into his support for something that he has given no other indication he supports.

I think you’d all do well to spend a little more time thinking about this.

By the way, Freep, the folks at Human Events aren’t exactly united behind this, nor are they infallible or the voice for conservatives in general.

What makes you think NAU is only about immigration?

President Bush, Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin and Mexican President Vicente Fox announced the establishment of the “Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America” in a March 23 joint statement.

Convening that same day in Waco, Texas, for a trilateral meeting, the North American leaders said the security and prosperity of their nations are “mutually dependent and complementary” and explained the impetus for the new initiative.
[...]
We, the elected leaders of Canada, Mexico, and the United States, gather in Texas to announce the establishment of the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America.

Be blind to to it, but the State Department’s language is clear.  The Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America is akin to the European Coal and Steel Community which became the European Community which eventually became the European Union.

Thanks, Freep. I was going to dig out the pertinent links to Commerce, State, and Interior. SPPNA will get anyone who wants to check where they need to be.

Dept. of Interior. Dept. of Commerce. Dept. of State. They are all quite open about their desire to eliminate rigid borders and facilitate the free movement of people, commerce, and taxes between the 3 major countries in North America.

Do they call it a North American Union? No. They are, by and large, Democrats. They have all kinds of huggyfeely terms for what they want to do. Honesty is not their fort’e.

Though take heart! The Quebecois are completely opposed to any such idea.

2Hotel,

It’s not often that we agree, but this is one of those cases where a lot of people just can’t see the forest for the trees.

Bush 41’s New World Order really was a prophetic call to arms of those who actually care about America being what we understand it to be 50 from now.

No, Bush isnt going to eliminate the borders today, but in time those imaginary lines will cease to even be imaginary anymore.
