Missing Student Case Overlooked?
JACKSON , Miss. (Nov. 21)—The police chief in Jackson, Miss., wonders why the case of a missing woman in his city isn’t getting national attention. But he suspects race is a factor.
Latasha Norman, who is black, vanished last week after attending a class at Jackson State University. She never returned to her dorm room. Her car was found on campus. Police have charged Norman’s boyfriend with hitting her last month but insist they have no suspects in the disappearance.
Jackson Police Chief Malcolm McMillin, who is white, says the case should get “the same kind of concern” as that of Stacy Peterson, the suburban Chicago woman who’s been missing for three weeks.
McMillin says he thinks the national media may be more interested in the Peterson story because she’s white. [The Associated Press]
Seriously, There are hundreds of missing girls cases everyday ... Stacy Peterson didn’t get attention because she was white, it was because her husband is a murdering COP!!! Lacey Peterson became media attention because she was PREGNANT. Crystal Gail Mangum received attention because it was DUKE UNIVERSITY. Come on people ... it’s not the victims receiving attention that makes the national news, it’s whether the media thinks it’s going to work to their advantage and make a financially worthy news story.
IN ADDITION
Obviously, I can now add this story to the national news worthy list because it's no longer about a missing girl it is about RACISM!
