McCain Drinks The Leftie KoolAid; Spews Economic Ignorance

By Klaus Marre

Is this a preview of how he will govern? Is he just another politician who wants to enforce his beliefs on "the proletariat"?

McCain says he believes U.S. is in a recession

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said Monday that he believes the country is in a recession, adding that “these are very, very tough times in America.”

[...]

While McCain, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, said he thinks the country is in a recession, he noted that he is more worried about helping people who are facing “enormous challenges,” rather than figuring out what the technical definition of a recession is.

The senator indicated that both Congress and President Bush are partly responsible for the situation, but argued that others are also playing a role.

“I think that there’s plenty of that blame to go around, including very greedy people that happen to be in Wall Street today ... like the CEO of Bear Stearns who decided the day before he was bailed out by the federal government to cash in millions of dollar’s worth of stock,” he stated, adding that there needs to be “a lot more accountability” on Wall Street.

So, we have the “Republican” candidate for President, who describes himself as “a proud Reagan conservative”, changing the definition of “recession” to suit his political purposes, downtalking the economy, blaming the President and “Big Business”, and generally parroting the leftie line on the economy. What’s wrong with this picture?

I think we all know the true greed is in Washington among those that are greedy for power and greedy for our money to get them that power.

What’s going to happen to US industry when the global warming extremists like John McCain double the price of electricity?  I would think all these factories will close and set up in countries where they aren’t scared of technology.

To lefties, whose economic beliefs are based on Marxism, “greed” is when a business wants to make a profit.  It’s also when individuals seek to act in their self-interest.  They don’t consider the govt’s thirst for our earnings to be “greed”, though.

Undoubtedly you are correct Robert, but for my part greed entails desiring something you did not earn and do not rightfully possess.

By that measure the US Government is the greediest entity EVER on the face of the Earth.

How do you judge whether you rightfully earned something?  Simple if someone else voluntarily traded you for something you had or created.

For example, Bill Gates, rightfully earned his Billions.  In the process he’s made the world a richer, better place.  And that’s coming from a Microsoft hater.

TW: As far as I know, Bill Gates has made his money without confiscating one dollar of it from anyone against their will.  On the other hand, the govt gets all of its money that way.  Something to think about.

I seem to recall lots of folks here blasting the decision to bail out Bear Sterns, myself included.

If McCain is drinking kool-aid, he has lots of company; Ben Bernake, Alan Greenspan, President Bush, and a host of people who know that the indicators are not good, consumer spending not withstanding.

I thought Bear Stearns was as good as dead with JP Morgan being encouraged to acquire the assets so they aren’t dumped on the market causing greater problems in the financial sector.

When you call it a bailout you’re assuming that the stockholders and management are insulated from the consequences of their poor practices.

Absolutely, which is why the Republican Party is in trouble with its base, and why many Republican voters feel betrayed and disenfranchised by this candidate.  This economic ignorance, plus the global warming crap, are making McCain very hard to accept.

I just read that the global warming scheme that McCain’s behind is a 1.4 Trillion dollar tax increase.

Why is it that he’s not popular with some?

A lot can happen between now and November, but I think when the smoke clears, it will be McCain that puts his hand on the Bible come next swearing-in.

Reason: as incredibly bad as McCain is, both Hillary and B. Hussein Obama are far worse.  They are their own worst enemies.  Certainly they have their (G*dd*mn America and the UKKK of SA) and Feminazi constituencies, but I think even waffling Liberals will go with a fairly-Leftist McCain.  Particularly so if the prognostications that Obama supporters will vote McCain rather than Hillary, and vice-versa, if their own candidate loses the Demoncratic primary.

At the end of the day, I suspect that McCain will prevail through the efforts of a Center-Left coalition.  He has given no indications that he is really sincere about courting the Conservative vote—aside from an arrogant statement for them to ‘calm down.’ (Talk about pouring fuel on the fire) Conservatives have never responded well to the arguments that we should vote for the Republican Boob since the Demoncratic Boob is far worse (think Bob Dole?  Bush, Sr.? ) My Magic 8-Ball says that a substantial portion will not be able to force down their bile to stand in line and flip a lever or punch a chad for McCain.  My guess is that a sizeable portion of the Conservative electorate will stay home on election night.

I don’t see anything good on the horizon over the next coming four years.  Whichever one of these three Horse-persons of the Apocalypse wins, the rest of us are royally screwed.  It seems a little ironic that a prediction of global disaster is slated to occur in four more years:

Based on their observations, the Mayans predicted that from the initial date of the start of their civilization, 4 Ahau, 8 Cumku which is 3113 B.C., after one cycle being completed 5,125 years in their future, December 21st, 2012.

Not that I will be canning preserves and stocking the root-cellar with tinned beef and ammunition, but I just do not look forward to the next few years, with McCain or whoever else misguiding the ship of state.

MZ: Here’s the hopeful scenario:  Hillary plays Nero, and fiddles while the Dems burn, so McCain gets elected with a small turnout, by default.  The Dems, drunk on their partisan KoolAid, stymie McCain because he’s a Republican, even though he panders like hell to them, and after two years of this Fric and Frac action, the American people elect an overwhelming Republican Congress, which implements conservative reforms and blocks both McCain and his leftie pals, thus leading to a real Republican President in 2012, so reforming entitlements can finally get off the ground.  It will cost us plenty, but at least we will make some real progress.
We will help the people of Iran to overthrow the mullocracy, thus making a sold modern coalition in the center of the ME.  After just idling along under Dem rapacious taxation and regulation, the Republicans allow the economy to finally get going again, we develop our own oil, and it’s a brand new world!  Like it?

Robert I think the problem with that is the press and hence many of the voters are going to blame the problems on the President (who is a Republican in your scenario).  that way we wind up with a stronger Dem congress and likely a President.

That’s the problem with McCain, he’ll govern as a Democrat but Republicans will take the blame for the failures of their sick worldview.
