Maryland Native Says Racism Led To His Firing In North Dakota

I found this crazy story today.

A Maryland native who was fired from a police chief job in Larimore, North Dakota, says racism was a key reason he was dismissed....Larimore residents complained earlier that he was too aggressive in handing out tickets. He was fired after about four-and-one-half months....A Grand Forks man is facing an attempted murder charge of ramming Jones’ patrol car.

Jeez.. He was so aggressive at handing out tickets that people were conspiring to kill him?  How many tickets is aggressive?  I am guessing that Larimore doesn’t have a large population, and handing out excessive tickets was the only thing he could do to fill his time?

He was ticketing old people for driving too slow.  This is a small town of like 500 people.

He also was issuing tickets because people were using their remote car starters.  (It’s nice to warm up the cars in North Dakota.)

The town is about 30 miles west of Grand Forks.

All in all I think he caused the problem all himself.  Now he’s just playing the old race card to enrich himself.

This does send a message out that if you give a minority a chance they are likely to accuse you of bad things, get it on the front page of the local rag and maybe get yourself sued.

I don’t know anything about the ramming the car incident.  Sounds like the guy should get several years to cool down and think about his actions.

Here’s the local coverage.

What’s going to happen to US industry when the global warming extremists like John McCain double the price of electricity?  I would think all these factories will close and set up in countries where they aren’t scared of technology.

I was wondering if he was going to do that. I had a conversation with a person from Larimore and she said he hasn’t played the race card. Well I think she spoke too soon.

You know, isn’t it a bit of a stereotype for anyone to just assume that a black man who got fired in a rural, mostly-white ND town was fired because the town is racist?

I’ve been living in ND for a while now, and while there are some racist idiots here who talk big in the bars some times, I’ve yet to see an overt act of racism.

From what I heard, this guy was a jerk and wasn’t getting along with the people or his bosses.

I live very close to Larimore--it’s even less of a town than Mayville. And that’s saying a lot.

The only times I ever went there were for my high school sporting events. Except for a couple of lynchings here and there, I never saw anything that made it seem like a very racist town.

When did you see these lynchings?
