Like that smart alec class bigshot in high school we (I) all hated

I can’t find the picture. Last night’s debate. Huck is trying to make a point. Romney and McCain sat there looking at him with fake smiles (sneers) condescending to have to sit there and listen to him.

If you wonder why I dislike Romney so much its that painted on condescension smile he carries with him wherever he goes. McCain just sits there like Mr Potato Head (in case you never noticed the similarity) and tries to smile.

Listen, hear, measure and answer. That's what you are supposed to do. Don’t give me that “Yadda yadda yadda I can’t wait till he’s done talking so I can talk some more”. “Who cares about him, I’m what’s important here”.

I know, Politics ain’t beanbag. I know phony is what it takes these days. But, quicher grinnen Mitt. It ticks me off. And if I could get you alone I’d do what I did to those phonies in High School. We’d have a grinectomy beatdown.

Sure, I was a High School Geek. But I was a big mean high school geek. That’s what Romney needs to have a little attitude adjustment.

Graduation in the top 5% of his class at Harvard Business school with an MBA will do that to you.  Or graduating in the top 1/3 of his class at Harvard Law School might do that.

Let’s check on Huckabee’s education for a moment from this article in World Net Daily:

Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee told the Christian Broadcasting Network he had a theology degree, he told voters in Iowa he had a theology degree, he repeated the claim in last month’s CNN YouTube debate ... but, his campaign now says, it was not true.

Huckabee’s claim began unraveling following his offhanded comment about Mormonism in a New York Times interview last weekend.

Reporter Zev Chafets wrote: “I asked Huckabee, who describes himself as the only Republican candidate with a degree in theology, if he considered Mormonism a cult or a religion. ‘I think it’s a religion,’ he said. ‘I really don’t know much about it.’

“I was about to jot down this piece of boilerplate when Huckabee surprised me with a question of his own: ‘Don’t Mormons,’ he asked in an innocent voice, ‘believe that Jesus and the devil are brothers?’”

Today, following a news conference announcing that former Reagan confidante, Ed Rollins, has become Huckabee’s national campaign manager, the candidate was asked about a PowerlineBlog story that said he did not have the theology degree he had claimed.

“I have a Bachelor of Arts in religion and a minor in communications in my undergraduate work,” Huckabee answered. “And then I have 46 hours on a master’s degree at Southwestern Theology Seminary. So, my degree as a theological degree is at the college level and then 46 hours toward a masters – three years of study of New Testament Greek, and then the rest of it, all in seminary was theological studies, but my degree was actually in religion.”

Speaking in Iowa in October, Huckabee told a sympathetic crowd, “Anytime you have been a person who was identified as a pastor and you’ve got a seminary education and theology degree, people tend to worry about you.”

In November, while appearing on the Christian Broadcasting Network, Huckabee said, “People look at my record and say that I’m as strong on immigration, strong on terror as anybody. In fact I think I’m stronger than most people because I truly understand the nature of the war that we are in with Islamofascism. These are people that want to kill us. It’s a theocratic war. And I don’t know if anybody fully understands that. I’m the only guy on that stage with a theology degree. I think I understand it really well. And know the threat of it is absolutely overwhelming to us.”

Huckabee lied about having a Theology degree.  He has a BS in communications with a minor in Religion.  He dropped out of a masters program in New Testament Greek.  Hmmm, Harvard Law School and Harvard MBA, spending years running major corporate turnaround projects and the 2002 Olympic disaster versus a Theology school dropout Baptist preacher.

You know phonies huh?  You were a high school geek… hmmm, Romney graduates from Harvard at the top of his Law School class and needs beatdown for being a phony?

You are a joke Gene.  An idiot parody of a Huckabee supporter talking about beating down a guy because he has a smug condescending smile at a Baptist preacher that lies about his own education record.

Same article:

Chafets wrote: “If young Mike Huckabee was ever rebellious or difficult, there’s no record of it. He preached his first sermon as a teenager, married his high-school sweetheart and went off to Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia. There he majored in speech and communications, worked at a radio station and earned his B.A. in a little more than two years. He spent a year at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Tex., before dropping out to work for the televangelist James Robison, who bought him his first decent wardrobe and showed him how to use television.”

Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia?  Arkadelphia?  Ouachita?

Never heard of it.  I have however heard of Harvards MBA program and Harvard Law School.

Ouachita Baptist University

I have heard of it. Small school. I was friends with a Baptist preacher who had gone there.

Justin: I was just going to warn you about Gene. Sometimes he writes stuff that he thinks is funny, but usually other folks can’t tell (’cause it sounds remarkably like the stuff he writes when he’s being “serious").

Gene: Consider subtitles: “Humor”, or “Commentary by Gene” . Give us a break! I’ve studied Bob Hope’s humor. Your’s is No hope humor! smile

Actually, No humor intended here.  I really don’t like condescending people and yes they did not condescend to me twice.  I have stories.

But, I’m grown up now, kinda.

Last night I would have liked to have taken a swipe at Romney.

And he wants to get my vote?

Be an adult pal.  I think I have something that might just trump your top 5% of his class at Harvard Business school with an MBA right here.

Remember, I’m a big supporter of using war to solve problems, even on a very small scale.

I saw it too.
It will come back to bite them.

Meh. I see condescension in Huckabee’s brand of religious branding.

Be an adult pal

Something we should all aspire to be, at least at some point.

Smacking the guy around because he looks condescending doesn’t take you to close to that goal.

All these guys have that smirky look, they are taught it at debating-for-the-presidency school.

Sally.

All these guys have that smirky look, they are taught it at debating-for-the-presidency school.

Huck flunked that class.  Or didn’t take it.  He never sits and smirks.

And, I admit at 62 years old (very soon 63) I should grow up.  I’m a scrappy North Dakota Farm Boy.

I can take a lot, but don’t EVER treat me as small change.  Disdain will get you no where.  I can take criticism, I can take abuse, but disdain, treating me like I’m small change, a nothing; that has the net effect of causing the hackle inside to rise.

If it’s verbal, expect me to hit back, HARD.  If you are within reach expect more.  It’s not about my self image.  That’s quite intact.  It’s about yours.

Of course I consider the source, if its from a person who has not earned the right to disdain I shrug it off.  If an ant thinks I’m stupid and an idiot, he or she is an ant.  I won’t even go out of my way to crush him.

On the other hand if I run up on a bear, and he ignores me, one of us is going to acknowledge the other as a threat.  If it’s me ok.  But Mr Bear, I have this 300 Magnum Weatherby in the fold of my arm. Disdain is dangerous.

Gene,

Your loyalty to Huckabee is well known and this, in my opinion, is an admirable trait.

That loyalty has also given you ophthalmia.

Governor Huckabee has smirked and has been condescending.
