June waterfowl update

The first stop is north of the border in the prairie provinces of Canada, namely Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Where the conditions currently are better with late June rains but moisture was needed in April and the ducks numbers overall are down from last year. Southern Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan it’s bone dry according to Delta Waterfowls latest report.

I didn’t realize that the Ducks update was that bad, I read where Mallards are down -25%. I told a buddy of mine that the numbers of Mallards are down he said where are they conducting the survey because he says north of Devils Lake there are ton of ducks according to report I have heard.

On the positive Gadwells are up big.

yep. goon that’s a key point to bring out is the mallard numbers off like they are. not saying it’s going to be a bad fall flight, but the spring signs are not what we’d like to see.

on the right track. if they nest it is destroyed the will. but what we were seeing was birds just not in the mood...if that makes sense. birds around, but not paired up, or not actively nesting....
