John McCain gets tax-free disability pension

Sen. John McCain has long said he is in robust health and is strong enough to hike the Grand Canyon, but he also is receiving what his staff Monday termed a “disability pension” from the Navy.

When McCain released his tax return for 2007 on Friday, he separately disclosed that he received a pension of $58,358 that was not listed as income on his return.

...Certain types of military and veterans pensions are either partially or completely tax-exempt, depending on the seriousness of the disability. In McCain’s case, the exemption is 100%.

“At the present time, Senator McCain enjoys excellent health and displays extraordinary energy,” John D. Eckstein, his personal physician at the Mayo Clinic, said in a statement. “While it is impossible to predict any person’s future health, today I can find no medical reason or problems that would preclude Senator McCain from fulfilling all the duties and obligations of President of the United States.”

Hey moron, do you have any idea of the disabilities that he has from the torture that was inflicted upon him.

I didn’t think so.

For my part that was a hell of an hard time to earn $58K a year.

What’s going to happen to US industry when the global warming extremists like John McCain double the price of electricity?  I would think all these factories will close and set up in countries where they aren’t scared of technology.

Here’s an explanation.  Let me know if the words are too big for you, and I’ll help.

Of course I do, I’m sure his multi millionare 2nd wife does too.

After Flipper voted against the torture ban, even more people know that pain.

Excuse me, you were saying?

What does that have to do with anything idiot?  Under the law he’s entitled to compensation for his permanent injuries while he was in the service.

Again with the class envy! Did you object when John and Theresa Heinz Kerry’s daughters were applying for scholarships that, I don’t know, maybe the Kerrys could have afforded themselves?

Social Security if falling apart.  Medicare, a government program, is on pace to one day become our largest national industry.  In order to maintain entitlement spending at current levels our income tax rate is going to have to double within the next two decades.

But are boob and the rest of the liberals worried about this?  No.  Instead, they’re upset about the $58,000/year a veteran who saw years of torture and abuse at the hands of Vietnamese socialists gets.

Meaning the liberals want to spend this country into oblivion giving entitlements like Social Security to people who, for the most part, don’t need it but get grumpy when some veteran collects what is rightfully his.

Amazing.

Rob,

Oh it’s worse.  Because of his service related disabilities, the retirement pay is tax free.  He’d still be collecting his retirement pay [a misnomer, it’s actually reduced pay for reduced services as officers of the Armed Forces can be recalled to active duty at any time] in any case, he’d just be paying taxes on it.  These are monies he earned, and continues to earn, for services rendered to his country.

Anyone who’d disparage that is beneath contempt.

In the reality free world of bob, disabled persons are never in excellent health!

"blackwater"boob informs us:

And I think even less

Which is, shock of shocks, a true statement; “blackwater"boob does indeed think less than most of us.

Hell let’s elect any old cripple President. There has to be millions of them out there. His war service is commendable, but that only goes so far. He will do less harm out to pasture with his pension.

Two words that will give every “reality based liberal” the shakes: “tax free”.

likwidshoe on June 10, 2008 at 06:58 am

Another phrase: “rightful income”.

The idea that anybody has any right to their money is known to cause cranial injury to liberals unfortunate enough to have been close enough to overhear the remark.

Carrick on June 10, 2008 at 08:45 am

How’s Barrack doing this month, Big Government $$$ Advocate?  I understand he’s going to raise $100 million this month alone.

Let’s hope he can clamp down on the right wing so he doesn’t get audited and they figure out how much of that money is coming from a relatively few number of donators, and that he’s majorly in violation of applicable federal election law.  Calling liberals out on their illegal behaviors is just the kind of below-the-belt tactic that Republicans like to employ.  The BASTARDS.  wink

Carrick on June 10, 2008 at 08:50 am

Carrick, I’m sure the guardians of democracy in the press will be checking up on where he’s getting his money.
