Looks balmy to me. You took these when you were out sunbathing?
Cookout on the deck! Really, Jon’s grill was froze down to the deck, so we had to carry the burgers and ribs down there Sunday. And yes, we are confirmed masochists. It was 10 degrees with windchill to -8. Nothing keeps a beer cold like the ice formed on your gloves!

What’s going to happen to US industry when the global warming extremists like John McCain double the price of electricity? I would think all these factories will close and set up in countries where they aren’t scared of technology.
Whistler.
That’s effing cold. Jeez.
I wanted to see about cross posting but I don’t know how. Anyway, its interesting.
We were doing the -25 thing last week. Today we are getting a much needed dusting of snow, 4” since 04:00. Expecting another 6-8” by 06:00 tomorrow. THIS is why I moved north!

That’s cold Rob. I’m getting up into the high 20s today. As in +20s. 3-6” overnight in the city. 1-3” on the coast. ice pellets and 30mph wind tomorrow.
somewhere in upstate NY they got more than 12 feet of snow in a week just now. obsurd.

And we’re looking at another 1 to 3ft across the region between tonight and tomorrow. Now everybody is getting nervous about what’s going to happen when all of this snow starts to melt.
Sam, there are crews out clearing roofs in your region. Hopefully it will be a slow melt and no rain towards the end. Are all the creeks frozen over already?
Una Salus Victus Nullam Sperare Salutem
I think everything smaller than the Great Lakes has been frozen solid for weeks now. Folk are worrying now about a)roof collapses and b)the spring thaw. My backyard is always a swamp in March and April. It may be more so this year.
Am I missing something there is ice on the river, must be global warming.
Check out:

No, there is ice on the river, just like every year. Same old same. If the temp had risen as much as Algore claims there would be no ice on the river. Not really. The oldtimers around here remember lots of years that the Alleghany did not freeze over, other years it froze as early as December. Other years it snowed as late as June.
What I want to know is if all these rivers and lakes freeze, does that make the sea level drop? If one hand is clapping in the forrest does it save a stitch in time? What ever happened to the Snowdens of yesteryear?
Damn! I can’t think of any more.

Yikes!!!!
You people are insane!!!! BRRRRR. Minus WHAT? Like I said before, the ONLY ice I want is the ice in my afternoon scotch. Global warming my foot.
On the other hand, of course, you don’t have to deal with little things like Katrina. It’s probably a trade off.
Election ‘08 - We Are So Screwed
Pil, we can get some substantial flooding when the ice starts to breakup and move. Right now we are getting a steady, icy snow. All the yankees here will tell you that ain’t a good thing! It packs down and turns into sheet ice, bad driving and lots of trees down on powerlines. Friend of mine just called, wants to know if I want to go shoot tomorrow. I said DUH of course! Gonna call around, see if we can get a few people together and do some patrolling, too. As I said towards the top of this thread, yes, I am a masochist.

One year, when I lived in upstate NY, we had a river of about 30 ft across on the other side of the road next to our house. In late February or early March, all the ice broke up, floated down, and made a giant, jagged dam at which point the river began flowing onto and down the road in front of our house and freezing. I’d say it was about 2-3 feet of water flowing down the road for about a day and a half. It eventually stopped, leaving about 5 inches of pure ice on the road. The town road crew was after that mess for a while. De-icing the road and then getting out to the river and pulling apart the temp dam. I lucked out then because I lived on a dead end dirt road, but the road commissioner lived above me. We were always plowed out early and well so he and his wife could drive fast without ice.
Brrrrr! It looks fun though. Don’t you know Al Gore and the rest of the global warming experts are getting nervous???
Happy Valentines Day, by the way…
Don’t you know Al Gore and the rest of the global warming experts are getting nervous???
They are absolutely terrified. It will only take one global warming expose to make it past the mainstream filters and resonate with the American people to expose them for the frauds that they are.

They are shivering and shaking. I wonder if he wears a coat?
Nope, they got this covered. It is because of global warming! The Great Lakes did not freeze over early enough. What? Huh? What do you mean this system came out of the west southwest. Uh, er, Pay no attention to the man in front of the weather map! I, The Great And All Knowing Algore command you.
Seriously, they are adapting rapidly. It is no longer Global Warming. It is Global Climate Change. That covers their ass no matter what happens. And they are morphing the stance, stretching the time frame so that they have a permanent political issue to bash people into submission with.
Sweet deal, eh!
Una Salus Victus Nullam Sperare Salutem
What does that mean? I mean, what does that have to do with anything?
The same as global warming, nothing what so ever.
Una Salus Victus Nullam Sperare Salutem
HA...! Now I get it.
2hotel9...How far is that from where the Pirates stadium is???
61 miles as the crow flies. About 74 driving. We have 18” on the ground here, down at Brady, where those pics are, Jon is measuring 16”. Right now I am getting ready to go shooting, we are going to do some 500 and 1000 meter targets. Nothing seperates the shooters from the scooters like temps in the teens and a deep snow pac!
Boy is out sledding and it looks like this whole week of school is done. As of an hour ago there were 184 vehicles reported stuck or wrecked in Butler County alone. People really need to learn how to drive, or park the damn thing.

Does PA get those snow tunnel things like New Yorkers? OR is that just an ocean phenomenon? Do you know what I am talking about?
Never been that deep here. I have been told by oldtimers that in the ‘40s and again in the ‘60s it got deep enough for that. I can only hope and dream!

My thoughts exactly! Boy thought he was getting a holiday, Wifey went through his Math text book and set his young ass to work. God! I love that woman!

Are any of you bloggers from East Brady?
That would be me, though I ain’t no blogger. More of a gadfly. I live up by Parker and Bruin. Whats up?
Una Salus Victus Nullam Sperare Salutem
Nice cat gadfly. I spent a couple of the best years of my life in East Brady. Used to live with Matty Steiner, hang out with Jimmy Hiles and a motley crew at the Cloud. Sure do miss it there and miss so many people from there. Still keep in touch with some, but now i’m living in South Carolina amid the rednecks and yahoos. I think i’m here because of all my activities in Brady - this is the closest place to Hell. So how are things in Brady? Did I know you in my former life?
I know the crowd at the Cloud! I mostly hangout in Petrolia, at Alan’s Roadhouse, which had a fire 2 weeks ago. Brady is all messed up, the streets by the Sportshack and Nelson’s are blocked and the bridge ain’t no where near ready, PENNDot doing the normal job, all screwed up! The snow has been good, it is all going to melt in the next couple of days, boohoo. I got those pictures from Jon Walter’s deck, next to the Boat Works. Or at least what used to be the Boat Works, that mess is still going on. I was up at Steiner’s getting potting soil and some new terracotta pots to transplant a lady’s house plants just a few days ago.
I’ll try to get some pics posted for ya. It will be another readerblog post, probably Friday or Saturday. Well, got to get Boy off to school, later on!
Una Salus Victus Nullam Sperare Salutem
How are things in the snow and cold? Sure do miss it. Here in South Carolina it’s in the 70’s today. Already getting too hot.
Everything is melting. I was hoping it would last till mid March at least. The river is going to breakup pretty soon, especially if we get a lot of rain. I’ll try to get the pics up here.

Bite your tongue man! We’ve had a few warming spells (anything 25 or above) here and the snow in my yard is still around my knees. And it’s snowing again! The kids love it when we let them out but I’m starting to get twitchy.
Its been snowing here. Wet snow.
