Islam Indoctrination at Texas Middle School

A public school principal in Texas who arranged for an Islamic instruction presentation for students by an organization whose leaders have been linked to terror groups apparently arranged for that indoctrination after being told not to by her district’s superintendent, parents have told WND.

The issue developed this week when public school students at Friendswood Junior High in the Houston area were herded into an assembly scheduled by Principal Robin Lowe that suddenly replaced a scheduled physical education class, according to reports.

There, two women from the Houston division of the Council on American-Islamic Relations instructed students that Adam, Noah and Jesus are prophets, announced “there is one god, his name is Allah,” taught the five pillars of Islam, told students how to pray five times a day, and instructed what Islamic religious rules require for dress.

Pastor Dave Welch, spokesman for the Houston Area Pastor Council, confirmed the indoctrination had taken place and called it “unacceptable.”

“The failure of the principal of Friendswood Junior High to respect simple procedures requiring parental notification for such a potentially controversial subject, to not only approve but participate personally in a religious indoctrination session led by representatives of a group with well-known links to terrorist organizations and her cavalier response when confronted, raises serious questions about her fitness to serve in that role,” the pastors’ organization said in a statement.

A parent, whose name was withheld, reported the presentation was 30 to 40 minutes long and handled by Muslims from CAIR, which, as WND has reported, is a spinoff of the defunct Islamic Association for Palestine, launched by Hamas leader Mousa Abu Marzook and former university professor Sami al-Arian, who pleaded guilty to conspiracy to provide services to Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

School administrators across this country are requiring Islamic sensitivity training by conducting seminars in just this manner, which is a one-sided effort to recruit children to Islam and denigrate other faiths. They do the same thing with homosexuality. But, if you even mention the Christian God in our schools, it is a freaking federal offense.

Yep! IF Christianity is even casually mentioned it is a crime. Another example of our tolerance of Islam even though radical islam has declared Jihad on all us infidels!

What....? No outrage from the ACLU! I think this qualifies as a “seperation of church and state” issue.

After being told not to by her superintendent

Administrators across this country are requiring Islamic sensitivity training

Huh??

I don’t think that I would be mistaken if I was to say that a large number of Americans see Muslims as terrorists and a radical religion. This is an insult to the many millions of loyal, faithful Arab-Americans. The media and politicians have done nothing to right this wrong. Without physicians from the Middle East my community would be denied access to good medical care. The American doctors who graduate from the local university seek employment where they get higher pay. It is also hard to attract American doctors to the North Dakota.

This is pure right-wing paranoia. These efforts are to promote understanding and end discrimination.

These women were simply explaining what their beliefs and
customs are. I am sure that the students benefitted more that day from the two Muslim women than they would have from a gym class.

watashiwa, I would say that many American’s see Radical Islam as a Real threat. I would also venture to say, many Arab Americans are not Muslim. Therefore, your comments are just as insulting IF not more so towards the right wing. Our country was attacked by MUSLIM extremists. We did not go looking for this Jihad.  As far as physicians from the Middles East goes, what does that have to do with Islamic indoctrination in our schools?

Neiman,

What is wrong with a bit of religious education? Given, these kids should receive equal sessions about other religions and faiths to create a balance and enable them to make up their own mind about where their own faith lies.
However, under the circumstances that the US finds itself in - a protracted war against an elusive enemy who are often associated with their ethnic origins (Arab/Middle Eastern) - it is hardly surprising and perhaps welcome, that these kids are being taught something other than the “all Muslims want to kill you, otherwise they are not true Muslims” line that you tout.

If you think these children (what age range is junior high?) are going to be indoctrinated into Islam and become Jihadis after a forty minute presentation then you do not hold much faith with the parental skills of their parents, nor with the student’s own intelligence. Are American kids really that dumb?

Schools REQUIRING Islamic sensitivity is flat out ridiculous! IF schools require that? Why not Require Islamic sensitivity for Jewish religion etc?

Zsa Zsa on June 3, 2008 at 07:31 am

I agree, Zsa Zsa. Religious sensitivity maybe - that way kids of non-theist liberals could be taught not to discriminate against Christians too.

OR why not just have a class in teaching Muslims not to discriminate & hate Jews? It seems to me the Muslims are the ones with the Real problem with hatred towards Jews more than anyone? Although, the Jewish people are not exclusive towards Islamic hatred.
MOFL, My point is radical Islam is the one who has the problem with tolerating we infidels! Christians and Jews etc… appear to be much more tolerant. It is Radical Islam who are the ones going around blowing themselves and others up in the name of allah. Not anyone else! A class for tolerating Islamic people is ridiculous! We tolerate them just fine as it is. AND every time we walk through an airport we are reminded of the tolerance we all share for the radical sect of Islam!
