Is This The End of The American Republic

The collapse of great nations is very rarely a quick event. It usually is a long drawn out process that spans decades of slow deterioration that affects all areas of the society. We can ofcourse look at Roman and Greek civilization as examples, but are we able to recognize the symptoms in our own time?
Our infrastructure is old and breaking down across the nation. We are seriously entangled all over the world in a multitude of conflicts. Our national debt is rising higher and higher, while our leaders spend ridiculous amounts of money on bannana museums and the like. Our economic situation is perilous to say the least. Gasoline is hitting record prices almost everyday, and with it the cost of everything else is rising steadily including food. Not to mention the corruption, ineptitude and stupidity of both parties in our political structure, through out all branches.
There are Secessionist movements in at least 25 states with memberships of nearly 20,000 people and growing. Throw the boarder situation into the pot along with the decline of American society and we are leaving a pretty nasty stew for the next generation to deal with.
I love this country, I have studied her history, and I truly believe in the founding principles of this nation. However, I am not simply an idealist and I think when we see the ship starting to take on water somebody had better speak up before it starts to sink.
We the People have the power to stop this madness, but do we have the collective will? I think we are all going to find out very soon.

If as you say t you really know our countries history, you would know that our existence as a unified nation was perilous from its very inception and has continued to be that way over time.  The United States were not truly united on many issues and it was only with compromise that the 13 states agreed to form a union and that was only with the provision that they could leave the union at any time.  The southern states secession which was legally valid should have dissolve part of the union except for the northern states agression which forcible held it together.

Indeed there are only a few things that bind people to a large geographic nation.  Force is the principle vehicle.  Secondly come ideology and free trade.  There as now have always been ideology splits between sectors of our nation, the principle one today between liberal socialists and free market conservatives, but unless factions are willing to physically fight to impose their ideology on everyone, our nation will stay intact.

You don’t have to be a moron to be a liberal Democrat but it sure helps.

Of course this civilization will collapse under its own wait eventually. History shows us(those of us who care to see) that nothing is going to last forever. Will this country last another 100 years? I suspect it will. That depends on alot of variables, including national policies made now and in the near future. We are young in terms of world civilizations, clearly our influence is great, and technology has bound western civilizations together, so the fall of the U.S. will most likely mean the fall of western civilization. That doesnt mean it will just vanish and anarchy will reign. It means western civilization will not hold the same position in world politics and economic power. We will still be here, we will still be Americans, we will still think we are free and the greatest nation on the planet, but it just might not be true. Is it true today? Maybe, maybe not.
The other option, as I see it, is that the world moves away from nationalism and into a new way of organizing ourselves. It will mean less freedom than we have now, less prosperity for the richer nations, and less poverty among the poorest. Good for the world, bad for us.
Will we last a thousand years? Im afraid not. Things move to quickly in this age of communication and infomation. When the end really comes, it will seem sudden, but thats only because people believe what they want to believe. The signs are there, the history is there to see, and all systems fail eventually. Its just like the meteor hurling towards earth right now. It may take 100 generations to reach us, or it could be here later today. We dont even know its out there yet, but someday it will fall from the sky. Can anyone say President Humungous?(remember the road warrior?) How bout the DUKE OF THE USA? I hope its not that red headed general guy from “The Postman”!

If you can’t even spell, why should we pay any attention to your “analysis” of history?

FH: Thanks for helping the Marxist “crisis” revolution bullshit!  You may be unaware of what you are doing, which simply makes you, in the words of Lenin; a “useful idiot.”
The first step in overthrowing anything is to create dissatisfaction among the people; then a “messiah” appears, speaking slick words, well packaged, and promising “hope” and “change”, and promising to right all wrongs and to cure everything. Adolph Hitler did exactly that in Germany in the Thirties.  Beware.

From bob’s dictionary:

Marxist (n): Everybody except me and Rush (see: fear and hatred, filled with)

As usual, you lie.  A Marxist is one who follows the beliefs and teachings of Karl Marx.  Among these are, but not limited to: Labor theory of value; class struggle, equality of outcome, State ownership of everything, including all money, all business, and even the people themselves; “the dictatorship of the proletariat"(by the ruling political class); central govt control of the economy; elimination of individuality and the celebration of collectivism....etc, etc.

You have yet to prove yourself capable of either telling the truth(you lied about my “dictionary") or being intellectually capable of coherent argument.(you are apparently ignorant of Marxism, even though it determines your personal values).
