Impeachment back on the table: Bring it on…

I just happened to notice this when I was reading my email this after noon. All I can say is bring it on Nancy Pelosi, there is a reason you are the leader of the congress that has one of the lowest approval ratings of all time. I think its time for us to write our democatic leaders and urge them to proceed quickly with this motion.

Pelosi OK with Impeachment Review

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has dropped a bombshell by reversing course and suggesting that the Judiciary Committee might take up the issue of impeaching President Bush.

Pelosi’s change of heart comes after Rep. Dennis Kucinich moved a “privileged resolution” to force the House to consider whether Bush should be impeached for, according to the Ohio Democrat, lying to Congress and the American people about the reasons for invading Iraq.

Pelosi had previously declared impeachment to be “off the table” before the 2006 election. But she now believes hearings on the impeachment issue are “a distinct possibility,” according to The Nation magazine.

Pelosi told reporters on Thursday: “My expectation is that there will be some review of that in the committee. This is a Judiciary Committee matter, and I believe we will see some attention being paid to it by the Judiciary Committee.”

Rep. John Conyers, the Michigan Democrat who chairs the committee, has said he is reviewing the articles of impeachment Kucinich has proposed. Previously he had felt constrained by the Speaker’s “off the table” comment.

“Whether her new line opens the door for hearings before the end of the Bush-Cheney presidency remains to be seen,” The Nation observes.

Two members of the Judiciary Committee, Florida Democrat Robert Wexler and Wisconsin Democrat Tammy Baldwin, have co-sponsored Kucinich’s articles of impeachment.

Kucinich told Fox News on Friday: “I think the Republicans were basically daring the Democrats to move forward with it, sensing that there were some in the Democratic leadership who, at the time, had no stomach for a real debate.

It has always been an abrogation of her duties to say it is “off the table”.  If there are grounds for impeachment than it should always be considered.

While GWB is currently considered a very bad president, he has relied on the fact that the Dems are pretty much as culpable on the run up to the war as he is. This has been his shield for years now. I doubt if the Dems will follow through with impeachment, as they will be fully exposed as hypocrites and/or negligent in the duties of oversight. Even though they were in the minority during this time, they could have practiced the duties of the loyal opposition. They stood by and allowed the bullshit to fly unabated, and most of them voted for the war. They failed as badly as GWB on this issue. This new rumble of impeachement is just election year games. If the Dems had choosen to do the duty they swore to do, this war might have been avoided, or at least fought in a manner that made sense. They choose, like GWB, to feed us all a shit sandwich.
Theoretically, there are other issues that GWB could be impeached for, or there were until the congress supplied him with immunity, but for the Dems to try impeachment for bullshit during the run up to the war would only splash moew bullshit around, and 1/2 of it would land on them.
If congress were required to do as the constitution says and declare war instead of the cowardly way they have deferred to the office of president(since WWII anyway), maybe at least they would have choosen the right country to attack, instead of what they thought would be the easiest country to attack. Either way, the truth is GWB and most of congress wanted a standing army in the middle east. Thats why this war happened. They wanted a large battle ready force as close to our perceived enemies as possible. They got that. Everything else after that is simply opportunism.

I want them to bring it on. The left lead by Moveon.org and George Soros wants this to happen and I think that the extreme left should attempt this to see how far it will go.

The dems want to talk about it but they know that this has no legs and they have no guts to do this.
It would also hurt the dems in the next election. Ok, bring it on.
