I think the Democrats are getting a little over confident already.

Is this over confidence? I found this over on a Democratic Blog. I think the Dems are getting way too Giddy Over Confidence from the Rothernberg Report

By Stuart Rothenberg

Democrats probably don’t have to worry about losing their Senate majority in 2008, but that doesn’t mean next year’s elections aren’t crucial for them.

A strong ’08 could put the party in sight of a 60-seat majority in 2010, and that filibuster-proof majority would change the rules of the game on Capitol Hill.

Last year, Democrats won a stunning 24 of 33 races, which means over the next two Senate cycles they will need to win another 36 seats, out of the 67 that will be up, to give them the magic number of 60. Given the small Democratic classes next year (12) and in 2010 (15), and the fact that Republicans will be defending a total of 40 seats over the two cycles, it’s certainly possible that Democrats can net nine seats to get to 60.

Sixty-seat majorities are possible only when a party has a mega-year that produces a huge class. The Republicans did that in 2002 and put themselves in reach of 60 seats with a good 2004. But last year was a disaster, and now it is the Democrats who have a mathematical chance to hit the all-important 60-seat mark. But first, they must build on their numbers next year.

Five or six of the GOP’s 21 Senate seats up next year already look to be at some risk, and that number could grow if there are key retirements and if President Bush’s problems continue to drag down Republican Party numbers.

This should be enough to bring Republicans out to vote force. If the Defeatocrats can manage to steal 60 senate seats our life as we know it now will change for the worse, maybe forever. With 60 democrats in the Senate you can Kiss Good Bye 1.) The Second Amendment 2.) Welcome gay marriage, and San Fran-sicko values. 3.) With the Dems come over taxation and that will finally kill the economy the dems have been talking down for years. 4.) With the Democrats we know how they despise the Military so you will essentially have no national defense any more. 5.) Marijuana will become legal, college professor nation wide will be happy. 6.) Illegal Aliens will be given a free pass, welcome to America, of course legal citizen will have to pay for these free loading leaches.  Further strapping social services in our country.  6.) 50 Percent of your income will be gone to pay for the free loaders. 7.) With over taxation of the wealthy, aka the business owners of American companies will go over seas to get away from paying the extreme confiscation of wealth, basically causing massive unemployment and a depression.

This is not a democratic report; it is from the Rothenberg Political Report, a group that does its own analysis of election race. You did notice that not one democrat was interviewed in the article.

So please prove where the democrats have made any predictions or are “giddy” or “overconfident” about the 2008 electin. It is way too early for any party to be making predictions and I see that neither party has nor do I believe they will.

Wrong, wrong puzzle feet, this guy is a democratic hack, he claims to be neutral which is wrong. They are not non-biased. So if Stuart is saying the dems are giddy with glee. Just like he was during the last election. I have seen nothing to back up that the dems are going to make gains to get to 60 seats. It is also a little early as well.

I like how these people try to come off as being objective, this guy’s blog is not.

Goon -

My guess is that you are right.  After being kept Twelve years in the wilderness and being frustrated by being prevented from passing tax-raising, gun-banning, homosexual-access-to-little-boys, Gore-toilet laws, their return to power is the political equivalent of an over-ripe zip.

They’ve already begun their heavy-handed ways.  They will drop America’s guard, even while the wolves are at the door.  They may get the defeat in Iraq they are pushing so hard for, and we may even suffer a major attack here in the US.  Already, we’ve had one Muslim (from Bosnia, so it would seem) shoot up a mall a couple days ago.

This failure to defend, as well as their overreaching in other areas will remind the casual, sometimes-Republican voter that there is a reason to go to the polls, rather than stay home.

But this, all this, is completely incumbent upon one additional factor—the introduction of a Reagan Republican into the race.

I see the current crop: Romney, McCain and Guiliani as still more of the same RINOs that led to this well-deserved drubbing in the last round of elections.  They are completely uninspiring, just as were the crop of Bob Dole and the other also-rans. Completely underwhelming.

The Stealth-Left RNC has, along with Bush, kicked away the Conservative constituency with their border-dissolving non-enforcement of immigration laws and their single-minded drive to an un-Constitutional North American Union.  Thus, we need a non-RNC, non-Beltway Republican… er… Conservative, to come forward.

The good news may be that Ron Paul and Tom Tancredo have formed exploratory committees and there is muttering about Newt Gingrich dusting his hat off for the ring.

My dream ticket would be Tom Tancredo - Pres.; Ron Paul - V.Pres. and Gingrich as the Rovian Braintrust.

We’ll have to see how this one unfolds.
