Believing the Moon is made of green cheese does not make it so; believing the Earth is flat does not make it so; believing that you have any credibility on this blog by parroting the cherry-picked words of others does not make it so.
Save America; boycott the MSM.
I know that we have not had two consecutive quarters of negative growth.
Tell it to you candidate, the truly Neo-Con’ed Flipper John.
Excuse me, you were saying?
Obviously we’re not in a recession, but we clearly are in an economic downturn. McCain is just savvy enough to know better than to parse words here.
BFD.
We haven’t even had one month of negative growth.
You tell him; you’re the one who quoted him.
He used the Clinton technique of saying that he “believes” we are a recession, which allows him to claim he wasn’t lying.
The only excuse I can see for someone who claims to be a Republican for saying this is to advocate for cutting tax rates and getting the govt out of the energy market. Maybe he’ll do this.
The lefties who are putting out this crap are obviously willing to downtalk the economy to try to win an election.
Save America; boycott the MSM.
The lefties who are putting out this crap are obviously willing to downtalk the economy to try to win an election.
``I believe we are in a recession, I believe the numbers indicate that,’’ he said.
I agree with your premise.
Flipper John is a liar.
Excuse me, you were saying?
Guess what, we’ll be in another recession in 6-7 years from now after the market picks up, this housing things clears, and people once again spend irresponsibly because they weren’t conservative with their money.
Why? because it’s a cycle.
btw, It’s a great time now to buy a house, they’re pretty cheap. Alot of Mutual funds are pretty cheap too, and good for saving money for the future so I don’t have to pay for someone’s retirement.
Flipper John is a liar.
Wrong. He used the Clinton technique, as I said before.
Carrick: I believe he did parse this; he said “I believe...” rather than making a declarative statement.
Save America; boycott the MSM.
As soon as I saw his statement on the news, I knew you would post this ASAP; not because you would have the stones to disagree with him, but because you are a partisan baiter.
Save America; boycott the MSM.
``I believe we are in a recession, I believe the numbers indicate that,’’ he said.
He is a liar.
Excuse me, you were saying?
He is a liar.
Good luck proving he doesn’t believe it. Are you really not able to understand the difference Clintonian parsing makes? You should know it very well.
What was your purpose in posting this, if not for the purposes of partisan baiting? You apparently know we are not in a recession.
Save America; boycott the MSM.
So r, are you now saying that Flipper John is a Clintonian parsing liar?
Excuse me, you were saying?
That’s true Robert108. He may even be right: We may have entered a recession. We’d have to wait two months to find out of course, but he can believe anything he likes.
At least it’s not Clintonian parsing of the form “what does ‘is’ mean, any-who?”
Kudlow says the numbers have recession written all over them.
Excuse me, you were saying?
wait a minute...is this the same McCain that said he’s not to familiar with the economy? And now people are going to pay attention to him when he says something in reference to the economy? God I hope he has some good people surrounding him or we’ll be waiting another 10 years for the Boomers to retire.
Kudlow says the numbers have recession written all over them.
Yeah; “written all over them” by the leftie liars in the MSM and the Dem Party.
We’re not in a recession, no matter whose words you cherry-pick to parrot for your partisan baiting purposes.
Save America; boycott the MSM.
Carrick: Clinton also said that you’re not lying if you really believe what you say(no matter how wrong it may be). Clinton is a case study in avoidance and denial, as well as outright lying. He did them all.
Save America; boycott the MSM.
So r, are you now saying that Flipper John is a Clintonian parsing liar?
No; I said what I said, not what you are trying to make up.
Save America; boycott the MSM.
r, you said:
He used the Clinton technique of saying that he “believes” we are a recession, which allows him to claim he wasn’t lying.
And:
you really not able to understand the difference Clintonian parsing makes?
And:
He used the Clinton technique, as I said before.
So r, are you now saying that Flipper John is a Clintonian parsing liar?
Excuse me, you were saying?
So r, are you now saying that Flipper John is a Clintonian parsing liar?
Asked and answered.
Now, if you want to be honest, and ask me what I think of this whole thing, my answer is that McCain is ignorant of economics, and actually believes the propaganda from the MSM/Dems/lefties on the subject.
Save America; boycott the MSM.
I accept your acquiescence.
Excuse me, you were saying?
If he’s not a liar, it’s because the numbers given to him by some economists point in that direction. Other economists believe we’re in a correction, or an economic downturn.
Kinda like how I believe it’s a child even if it’s not yet born where as you might think it’s a child once it’s had it’s first breath.
All a matter of perception isn’t it?
r,...after you....
Excuse me, you were saying?
If I asked who do you believe is the Dem nominy, no matter what your answer I could call you a liar.
McCain can believe what he wants. Bernanke says we’re pointing in that direction, but then he would be a liar too right? Meanwhile I’ve heard economists who believe that this could be a short and miraculously insignificant downturn, or could be something that takes a couple years to clear up. I can’t call either of them a liar.
R is right about at least 1 thing. McCain talking about the economy is like listening to some ESPN commentary about the Dolphins #1 draft pick. Meaningless.
Now you’re just being silly. You used a statement by a Republican(in name only) to sell an idea even you know is wrong, strictly to get attention. You got your attention. It doesn’t go any deeper than that, because your entire effort here is shallow.
At the end, you are reduced to trying to put words in another’s mouth, and claiming some sort of non-existent victory. Pathetic.
Save America; boycott the MSM.
and 1 last thing.
Headline: McCain like so many other people in Washington, is a politician. All of them lie eventually. He’s gonna lie about something at some time, I’m sure he has before. This is a pointless effort to start putting a banner over his head. He’s merely misinformed or misguided and only making statements based on what others, who are considered worthy over economic advice, are giving him.
Did you ever believe in the tooth fairy, santa claus, or that the family dog/cat ran away?
Sorry there big guy, you said he was using Clintonian parsing.
You have also called anyone claiming that we are in a recession a liar.
If you can’t own up to it, that’s on you.
Excuse me, you were saying?
You have also called anyone claiming that we are in a recession a liar.
I’ll ‘splain it to you one more time: He said “I believe..."(Hint: it’s the title of your own thread. Duh), so, unless you can prove he doesn’t really believe that, he’s not lying.
I thought I made it clear in my first comment, but I guess it went over your head. Hope I dumbed it down enough for you this time, because I can’t get it any simpler than that.
Of course, if you have the stones to actually use your own words to prove something, go right ahead. So far, you aren’t even close.
Save America; boycott the MSM.
If you can’t own up to it, that’s on you.
Excuse me, you were saying?
If you can’t own up to it, that’s on you.
Since I’m not a liar, I can’t indulge you on this. If you don’t get it, I can’t educate you enough so you can realize your error.
I have given you all the attention I’m going to give you this time.
Save America; boycott the MSM.
[quoteHe’s merely misinformed or misguided or making statements based on what others, who are considered worthy over economic advice, are giving him. quote]
That’s not the same thing as lying.
The libs and the left pounced on President Bush calling him a liar, when all he did was repeat what the CIA and NSA were reporting to him.
"Here lies, in honored glory, an American soldier, known but to God.”
The times, they are a-changin’...

If you can’t own up to it, that’s on you.
Excuse me, you were saying?
rbb: Robert108 is correct on this, and you know it.

(hee hee)
Excuse me, you were saying?

Salient point pp. Now who’s denying we are in a recession? Have you seen the effing European tourists everywhere, buying everything?
Yun Chu said, “You must strictly not express in words what is very significant. Both dragon and snake are killed in one blow.”
RBB,
Glib though they may be, your anti-McCain tantrums are entirely predictable and for most of us irrelevant. In the first place, even those of us who are, to put it kindly, skeptical of John McCain as the GOP standard-bearer, are well aware that he is a far more sensible choice than either another Clinton or that new kid with the funny ears and the teleprompter.
In addition, there is the simple fact that although most of your comments are certainly glib, and even, on occasion amusing, you’ve never been especially convincing. Being the class clown has its advantages, no doubt… especially if the purpose is to disguise the intellectual dyslexia lurking beneath the facade. But it’s not as though you’ve convinced anyone else to join in… have you?
“Poverty of goods is easily cured; poverty of the mind is irreparable.”

Thank you for your kind words.
How shall I pigeonhole your comments about the Democratic candidates?
Shall I call them enlightened observances of political opponents?
Shall I call them well reasoned preponderance?
Or shall I call them utterly predictable gop bile?
I don’t think you’ll have to guess.
Imagine the irrelevant nature of your never ending screed focused on me.
On the matter of efficacy.
I’m sure your criticism of my failure must be buoyed stories of your transmigration glories.
Please enumerate the vast number of political conversions you have guided into the shadows if you will.
Excuse me, you were saying?
