Today, I woke up smiling. Why? Because I realize how fortunate I have been over the last several weeks
Unknown to most of you who last heard I was alive and well ... things took a turn for the worse. After spending weeks in ICU and then CCU I am finally at home working on recovery.
Not to go into too much detail I’ll just say I have what is called an upper GI bleed (esophageal) that nearly bled me to death and caused severe anemia. After multiple blood transfusions, surgery and an indefinite liquid diet ... I get to be at home and hopefully get back to normal.
Odd thing about this illness is I have completely depleted my iron supply and I seem to be having trouble regulating it so far. As most know without iron a body doesn’t function too well. I am trying though.
My main goal is to recover quickly so I can be with my brother who is beginning chemo/radiation for advance prostate cancer. He was by my side and now its my turn to be there for him.
So, I am back, but as you can understand .. it may be a slow and sporadic return.
