In this age of political correctness and tolerance in every way shape and form, over time we as hunters have given ammunition to the opposition with the simple replacement of the word kill with harvest. It makes little sense to revisit why, and in truth many still feel this choice of less (in their view) contentious words is a better option. I’d guess it was initially done as a means of creating tolerance for non-hunters in media or other discussions, but over the course of years, we’ve actually fed the enemy to the point in Vermont a young student was caught in middle of a tug of war between his parents and an intolerant teacher for simply discussing a turkey hunt with a classmate, and the teacher took exception to his use of the word kill.
