Huckabee can win on the “I’m not Bush” GOP Ticket if Fiscal Conservatives will back him

Chris Ruddy has a pretty good take on the whole GOP debacle about to implode.  With fiscal conservatives about to hand the election to Hillary the only hope is a candidate that can say, I’m Not Bush.  Social conservatives have found their man and are supporting him.  Ruddy reviews each of the candidates potentials and comes to the same conclusion I do.

Here’s the last paragraph of his article.

All the infighting for the GOP race may be more about the party’s positioning after the November election.

The race to win this coming November will be an uphill battle for Republicans. After eight years of George W. Bush, Americans will want change. A contracting economy will mean the death knell for a GOP White House win.

Still 2008 may offer surprises, such as another terror incident or a third party bid for the White House by Michael Bloomberg.

Now what?  Are we going to commit political suicide again?

Suck it up boys, let’s win this thing.

Sorry, Gene, but this fiscal conservative has principle and isn’t about to vote for a candidate who isn’t actually fiscally conservative.

Why would anyone claiming to be fiscally conservative vote for a tax&spend Democrat like Mike Hucklebee?

Now there’s the rub guys, Fiscal conservatives (not you in general) expect those who are sold out social conservatives to vote for someone soft on social conservative values.  Therefore, why would I vote for Gulliani or Romney.  Thompson is questionable and McCain, who knows.  That leaves Ron Paul or Huck.

Dukes Choice.  I think one of us, that means you or me are going to have to compromise our votes to NOT elect a Hillary or Obama who will take us to hell.

Aye, there’s the rub.  We have no one who has a chance of winning.  If it’s not Huck, I’d think McCain.

Pretty slim pickins out there.

I don’t see why Thompson is so questionable on social issues.  Is it because he thinks gay marriage should be a state’s issue?  Because he thinks his religion is a personal matter and not worth making big speeches about?

Seems like pretty silly reasons to me.

Now what?  Are we going to commit political suicide again?

Nominating a guy that believes in Intelligent Design and has a track record of sermons (not yet released, but we know they are there) that will alienate all but Evangelical voters seems like a good choice… Ah, but that is what Gene and the Evangelical movement want.  A party that is controlled by Christian Pastors and one that doesn’t really care about Fiscal conservatism.

Huckabee is the death kneel for a party that is already increasingly defined as one that is hostile towards blacks, gays, Hispanics, academics… Now it will become a party that is hostile towards Free Market principles.

But I am sure that God will bless us if we just listen to Dr. Dobson and vote for God’s candidate.  If we turn our back on Huckabee, we will probably incur God’s wrath like we did on 9-11 because of the abortionists, the gays, and the ACLU.  Isn’t that what Falwell and Robertson said?  Or should we just stop praying because God is going to ignore us just like when Dober, PA refused to teach Intelligent Design?

Folks, do any of you really think releasing a rapist from prision early, raising taxes, or giving scholarships to illegal aliens is socially conservative?  Moreover, do you think that socially conservative is equivalent to Huckabee’s flavor of Christianity that led him to these decisions as Governor?

Hucklebee is no more a conservative than he is a Republican. The same goes for Romney and Guilliani. And McCain has shown throughout his career that he will bow down to Socialist Democrats at every turn. So, your big plan is to give Democrats the White House by electing Hucklebee, the scumbag who out Clintoned Clinton as Governor of Arkansas? You really think that is the way to save America?

As for Evangelicals, I am sick unto my death of hearing this crap. Evangelical Christians are not some great and powerful political block that can sway anything. They are, in fact, a media produced feverdream. If they were some mighty political force in American elections the Democrats would have had their collectivist heads handed to them last November.

In North Dakota a non-fiscal conservative (read wild spender) Republican governor is causing much greater damage than a Democrat could.

Now there’s more to being a President than a Governor for sure.  Foreign policy and judicial appointments come to mind.

Certainly Huck would be less bad than Hillary on judicial appointments.  On the other hand you’re going to have to sell me that Huck’s foreign policy is going to be a whit better than Hillary.

Certainly he’s not talking like a sane man on foreign policy.  I don’t see his record on taxes is one bit better than the Clinton’s.

What’s going to happen to US industry when the global warming extremists like John McCain double the price of electricity?  I would think all these factories will close and set up in countries where they aren’t scared of technology.
