Huckabee Tough on Crime - Letting Rapists Kill Again

Huck got letters from victims, but ignored them because Dumond had “found Jesus”.

And then Huckabee denies getting the letters, only to have his campaign come back later and admit that the letters were genuine.

Prison is too good of a place for Wayne Dumond. Huckabee’s decision to ignore the rape victim was so wrong. She must have felt like she was violated all over again!

We should keep in mind that Huckabee was probably acting on the knowledge that Dumond was a rapist who had been castrated in jail while awaiting trial.  While certainly history proves that Dumond was capable of offending again, I can also understand why those familiar with his case might have believed it to be unlikely.  Chemical and surgical castration is, after all, a common “last resort” for rapists and child molesters who are believed to be likely to offend again.

In other words, the parole of Wayne Dumond was a tragic mistake, not necessarily the willful act of someone who is soft on crime.
