Hollywood screenwriter fired for being a conservative

David Paulin

“There’s no creature as intolerant as a Hollywood liberal,” contends Emmy Award winning screenwriter Robert J. Avrech. He was fired from two screenwriting jobs because of his conservative political views, he says.

Avrech says an article he wrote for FrontPage Magazine, “Help, I’m a Hollywood Republican,” prompted lefty producers to give him the boot three years ago. Why did he risk his livelihood with his tell-all column at FrontPage?

“I was just sick and tired of limousine liberals denying the reality of the terrorist threat,” he relates at his blog Seraphic Secret.

“Sick and tired of Hollywood’s obsession with so-called global warming. Sick and tired of unpatriotic, ungrateful Hollywood, acting as enablers for world-wide terrorism.”

Finally, he decided he must speak out—or “feel like a traitor,” he writes.

[...]

Where’s all that “tolerance for diversity” that lefties always squeal about?

Comments

As we both know, liberal tolerance only goes one way - to the left.

How do you know this guy wasn’t fired because of the writing quality.

Generally good writing makes money and people don’t fire people who make money for them.  Sounds like sour grapes to me.

Emmy Award winning screenwriter Robert J. Avrech…

Can’t you read, Lestat?
For you leftie morons, I guess it was just a coincidence that he got fired after his book came out.  Duh.

You should know that logic and Hollywood don’t go well together.  And there are plenty of cases where people were fired for vindictive reasons by their bosses…

Though I accept the point:  How do we know that the firing was not justified?

(Or even if not justified, there are a host of reasons that writers lose their jobs in Hollywood… nepotism, budget, etc.)

I agree, now what do you have to say about the NYT and other liberal newspapers drop in revenues?

A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers.

What about all the “good writing” involved in all those anti-Iraq, anti-President Bush movies that bombed at the box office?  It’s obvious that the Hollywood lefties care more about their Marxist politics than anything else.  They hate conservatives as much as the lefties that comment on this blog do.  Maybe more.

He was fired.

The rest is opinion.

Neither you nor the screenwriter has offered anything other than speculation.

Excuse me, you were saying?

Get back to us when you have a fact.

They’re in the article.  I understand you have a big problem with recognizing facts, since you never use them.  You are the last person who should be squealing about facts, rbb.
Your articles and comments are consistently fact-free.
