Hi! I’m Ron Paul…Would You Like Some Kool-Aid®?

For the last couple of weeks, I’ve been joking about the “Kool-Aid®” that the Ron Paul camp has been drinking. According to at least one of his followers, it isn’t a joke!
John Derbyshire of the National Review received an email telling him to “follow the dream” of voting for Ron Paul. Then he had this to say:

Let us begin with the worst case scenario, which is that Ron Paul, if nominated, has no chance of winning the election. I suggest that this is one of the strongest reasons to make him the Republican nominee.

I know! I should have warned you! Now we have coffee, diet Coke®, and various and sundry other fluids covering our keyboards after a massive spit take! (I apologize!)
This line of reasoning goes hand in hand with the “We have to destroy the village in order to save it” mentality which we were sure was mythical!

The strongest reason we have to make Ron Paul our nominee is that he will lose. Well, they got that part right! Is 2008 The New 1964? (scroll down)

The Left is a formable enemy.  They infiltrate, they lie, they steal, they ressurect dead Republicans and have them vote Democrat.

Ron Paul, was not hard to sniff out as a traitor, although, I am very suprised you found the proof.  I would not take any trips on commercial jets or helicopters in the near future!  Hillary may snuff you out!

Very few places where being a total loser is a resumé enhancer!

One of those places is being a Libertarian party candidate.

I suggest that this is one of the strongest reasons to make him the Republican nominee.

Only if they, the Republicans, are intent of ceding the election to the Democrats.

You don’t have to be a moron to be a liberal Democrat but it sure helps.

Ron Paul is THE most conservative out of all of the current Republicans in the race.  Its for that reason more than any that he will have a hard time seeking the election.  Not because his ideas are unsound or unpopular, but beccause his principals are in direct conflict with the political establishment of the day.

You guys want to “Stay the Course” another 4, 8, 12, however many years??

Very true.  A lot of conservatives of today (neo cons) get their panties in a bunch when talking about him due to his opposition to the war.

Ron Paul is THE most conservative out of all of the current Republicans in the race.

Even if that were undeniably true, he is certainly the least electable Republican in the race!
From my observations, he hasn’t the spine to stand up to 9/11 truthers and his “consequences be damned” attitude to pulling out of Iraq is irresponsible.
I don’t care if he claims to be the most conservative person who ever lived! His “conservatism” has caused him to embrace some reckless ideas. (Making me think his “conservatism” isn’t that well thought out!) Plus, the idea of handing the election over to a Hillary, Obama, or Edwards is unthinkable.

I’ll take “Someone Who Has A Prayer of Winning” for $500, Alex!

Ron Paul talks a good talk when the subject is domestic policies and limited government.  I’ll give him that.  But then he goes off on conspiracy theories about the federal reserve, and his isolationism on international policy cannot be ignored because it’s dangerous.

Plus, Paul and his $400 million in earmarks makes him a big, fat hypocrite too.

Yea I would rather goto a Bush camp, where they serve Beer and pretzels. And I would even slap poor Bushy on the back when He starts to choke.

I think Ron Paul is begging to get some fire in the way He speaks, there where times when I preferred to read what He said rather than to listen to Him.

Even though I think Ron Paul has no chance in hell in winning I’m still rooting for Him to win.

I don’t know about that, but he will not win the election, you are correct.

Making me think his “conservatism” isn’t that well thought out!

What is/are the problems with his conservatism then, besides the fact that he doesn’t want America policing the world?  He does sway libertarian on a lot of social issues, which is mostly a good thing. Most of his political views are in line with ‘l’ibertarians and not the actual Libertarian party kooks.
