The goal of restricting the ability of people to move freely, both themselves and food/resources, is one that the self appointed Ruling Elite(of whatever flavor) have been working towards for 150 or so years.

Throughout most of human history the vast majority of people remained within a short distance of where they were born. Much easier to control people when they have only their feet to move from place to place, and only their backs to carry things with.

The wheel is next. Public Transport is only good for moving people. You are greatly limited in what you can carry on a bus or train. Those Who Will Rule don’t like people being able to transport themselves and whatever items they wish. Makes it hard to force people to do things when they can tell you to fuck off and drive away.

This is the extension of the left agenda to implement a new dark age.  Since they are pagans the church doesn’t work to oppress people, so they use government and control.

The free enterprise system seeks to increase supply to meet the demand, so that everyone may choose to have what they want, if they are willing to work for it.  Socialism seeks to decrease demand, through taxation and regulation, so that people may only have what the govt thinks they “should” have.
