Happy Fourth of July to All
Tomorrow is the Fourth of July, a national holiday on which we celebrate the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the birth of our nation.
Of the 56 men who signed that document, only two become President of the United States, John Adams our second President and Thomas Jefferson, our third.
Although the two men became bitter political rivals during their respective terms of national service, they were later reconciled and became fast friends. Their correspondence is a rich historical treasure of immeasurable significance.
The two former presidents and Founding Fathers died on the same day, July 4, 1826, the 50th anniversary of the Declaration that both helped craft.
A very happy 4th to all… especially those serving in uniform here in the States and overseas.
