Haditha Charges Dropped

Clarice Feldman

After first reducing the charges against him, the government has dropped all charges against Marine Lance Corporal Tatum:

[...]

Not a single word of apology yet from Time which first floated the lie that the marines had engaged in a deliberate massacre in Haditha nor from Congressman Murtha who accused the Marine company involved with “cold blooded murder.”

But this is another major instance where the blogosphere had the story right and the major media with all their resources, propagated a lie and kept it in circulation long after it was apparent the story of the Haditha “Massacre” was a bit of enemy propaganda.

And by “enemy propaganda”, I take it to mean the Dem Party and all the lefties who are trying to smear our military and the war on terrorism.

Shame on them!!!

Comments

Co-conspirators having their charges dropped is not cause for celebration.

WOOF on March 29, 2008 at 05:30 am

WOOF.  Not celebration.  Vindication.  Justice, Truth, honor.

Charges are dropped in
exchange for defendants testimony.

What he said.

WOOF:  Another point.  The MSM, liberals generally are for some reason incapable of telling The Truth.  They can not seem to bring themselves to admit an error.  Why?

Not a single word of apology yet from Time which first floated the lie that the marines had engaged in a deliberate massacre in Haditha nor from Congressman Murtha who accused the Marine company involved with “cold blooded murder.”

There are some exceptions.  I will give it to Hillary when she finally admitted that she was not under sniper fire the other day, but it was after those photos were released.

From ABC of all places and AP!

In his recommendation, Lt. Col. Paul Ware said murder charges brought against Sharratt were based on unreliable witness accounts, poor forensic evidence and questionable legal theories.

No reports of “exchange for defendants testimony”

“The government version is unsupported by independent evidence,” Ware wrote in an 18-page report. “To believe the government version of facts is to disregard clear and convincing evidence to the contrary.”

From Reuters:

Murder charges were dismissed in April against Sgt. Sanick Dela Cruz, who has been granted immunity from prosecution in exchange for his testimony in the case.

Dela Cruz told a military court in May that he watched his squad leader, Sgt. Frank Wuterich, shoot down five Iraqi civilians who were trying to surrender. Later this month Wuterich, the accused ringleader in Haditha, will face a hearing to determine if he should face a court-martial.

That is Dela Cruz, not Marine Lance Corporal Tatum.

Shall we wait and grant these Marines the same presumption of innocent afforded all US Citizens, or are Soldiers, Marines and Airmen second class citizens in your opinion and that of Jack Murtha?

The military takes no pleasure in trying this case, this is a 2005 incident.

There is no desire to hector and incarcerate troops who may have overreacted under difficult circumstances. Wide latitude of troops actions at such times is a given.

Oh, an officer also had charges dropped!  From SignOnSanDiego.com:

Capt. Randy W. Stone, 35, a battalion lawyer from Dunkirk, Md., was one of four officers charged with failing to adequately probe the killings.

“It is clear to me that any error of omission or commission by Capt. Stone does not warrant action under the Uniform Code of Military Justice,” Lt. Gen. James Mattis wrote.

I wonder why this was omitted?

WOOF.  I will assume that this statement as well as several others are merely your opinion.

I will back off as I like to talk and speak what is know so as to get to The Truth.

In a further attempt at getting at The Truth; from The Raw Story:

Four of the eight have had charges against them dropped, while charges of murder were replaced by the lesser offence of manslaughter in the cases of Tatum and his squad leader Sergeant Frank Wuterich.

Let us just wait and see how this ends.  Innocent until proven guilty for all Americans.  This type thinking has been reversed of late.  The Duke University case being one of the most glaring examples of prejudice and racial hatred exposed for all to see.

Murtha and the MSM will cry war crimes and murder against these Marines; but when the case falls apart you’ll only get silence from them. Never any admission of error or even of excess in rhetoric, or possible prejudice for partisan purposes, only silence. Now, please pay attention:

In the final analysis it is not important for the Left to admit error and partisanship, those of us that have served in the military, at time of war and/or have family serving today and/or having lost a loved one in war, we will stand shoulder to shoulder with these Marines. In the Marines we never say ex-Marine, only serving Marines and former serving Marines. When another Marine, in uniform or not, serving or a former serving Marine gets in trouble all they need yell out is “Hey Marines,” and they will have a truck load of Leathernecks around them, fighting back to back taking on the enemy.

RZ, myself and several others here hold these Marines in high esteem, we know they were wrongly charged and that is all that counts! We know the truth! Murtha is absent all honor, he stained his war record, he sold his soul for votes and he will pay the price in time.

No matter the age or state of health, for a military man it is always glorious to tilt at windmills, rescue a fair Dulcinea and be a gallant knight in armor in a glorious cause.

From Eight to Three, before so much as a court was selected.  The prosecution seems to be having difficulties with their case.

Blame it on the fact that “they keep it all hid”.  Of course that argument works anywhere.

For example:  Space aliens are controlling the orbit of our planet, causing it to spiral into the Sun.  Proof?  “They keep it all hid”.

Is this guy still a Marine?
Will

you stand shoulder to shoulder with

Sgt.Dela Cruz

The military had to go forward with this case after that statement.

Rules are rules and once initiated roll to a conclusion.

Pretty noble sentiment coming from a lefty.  I wonder if Democrat voters in Michigan and Florida, and their duly elected convention delegates are aware of this newly discovered nobility?

Rules are rules and once initiated roll to a conclusion.

Only if the evidence supports that conclusion; in this case, it apparently didn’t.  Murtha convicted those guys before the trial even began, and now the truth is revealed to be quite different.

WOOF.  His statement is his perspective.  Unfortunately, these Muslim terrorists do not wear uniforms, bear arms (bombs strapped under pregnant women do not count--they are concealed), they do not follow Geneva Convention ROE or follow LOAC.  Their “civilians” are unlawful combatants in most cases.  When this comes out, it just may be proven that the civilians that Dela Cruz thought he saw were combatants.

Some Marines, by their actions have divorced themselves from the Corps.  One blatant example is the Muslim who fragged at least two officers just before we kicked off in 2003 from Kuwait.  He is still awaiting trial.  One of the officers was the first National Guardsman to be killed in combat in a long time.  Shameful, but no organization if free from some bad apples.
