Gore- Gas Lamps Line His Driveway

There was a column by Deroy Murdock about the hate and vitriol heaped on those who exposed Al Gore’s profligate enenrgy consumption. I commented on Left Spews Hatred Towards Those Who “Outed” Gore

But there was one line in the story I missed...

Gore’s home has gas lamps lining his driveway

Gas lamps! How marvelously inefficient!
Here’s a chap, leading a movement that wants to outlaw the incandescent light bulb for its inefficiency, spewing needless carbon directly into the air with his gas lamps!
(Yes, Virginia! Al really does think this is an eminent crisis!)

It really makes me appreciate his invention of the Internet even more! How hard it must have been for a low tech guy like Al, trying to send those little packets of information down gas lines!
Where’s the Tolerance?

Obviously “Mr. Internet” hasn’t heard of Google yet.

Lookit what I found in less than 20 seconds:

Yea, but those don’t have the panache of polished brass and glass!

And ofcourse Algore’s defense is that he needs them for security. He is an important man, you know!

The fattest brass in all of Tennessee!

Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

On the way home from a local job I passed 6 flare-offs from operating oil/gas wells, what you want to bet they burn less gas per annum than the decorative lamps on the Goreacle’s estate?

I’d like to know what proof there is that Gore has these lights lining his driveway, and if they are there, that he uses them.  Deroy Murdock is a conservative columnist, and I wouldn’t take his word as gospel on this.  Has anyone actually seen the gas lights?  And if they are really there, do the Gores actually light them, or are they a holdover from days of yore, perhaps even installed by a previous homeowner and not used for years?

Without these facts, and given the source of this information, I think we need to be highly skeptical about this story.  Gore, of all people, knows that burning gas lights puts CO2 into the atmosphere, and he wouldn’t do it, especially because it’s totally unnecessary.  With solar lighting for walkways and driveways readily available from your local Home Depot, why do that?

I won’t believe this story until it’s verified by a credible source, and my guess is that it will be found to be misleading or inaccurate.  Perhaps there are gas lights there, as I said, but I seriously doubt the Gores light them.

Are you unable to use google;images, or are you merely attempting to use vague innuendo to make some point?
