There is a consensus.

While previous posts may have focused on the competing science contra the Global Warming myth, this one focuses on the suppressive tactics used by the Left.

The number is eye-popping, and it was repeated so often it became gospel.

The snowpack in the Cascades, it was said, shrank by 50 percent in the last half-century. It’s been presented as glaring evidence of the cost exacted by global warming - the drying up of a vital water source.

That statistic has been repeated in a government report, on environmental-advocacy Web sites and in media coverage. Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels recently mentioned it in a guest column in The Seattle Times.

Here’s the problem: The number is dead wrong.

The debunking of this statistic, and the question of just how much the state’s snowpack shrank, is stirring up a heated debate among the region’s climate scientists.

On Monday, it escalated further when University of Washington researcher and State Climatologist Philip Mote stripped a colleague of his title as associate state climatologist, triggering concerns that scientific dissent is being quashed. Losing the title doesn’t affect the man’s employment at the UW.

And not too long ago, one well-placed advocate of the Global Warming hoax suggested that the government threaten the livelihood of any dissenting climatologist or meteorologist by revoking their all-important AMS rating:

If a meteorologist can’t speak to the fundamental science of climate change, then maybe the AMS shouldn’t give them a Seal of Approval.

Allegre’s conversion to a climate skeptic comes at a time when global warming alarmists have insisted that there is a “consensus” about manmade global warming. Proponents of global warming have ratcheted up the level of rhetoric on climate skeptics recently. An environmental magazine in September called for Nuremberg-style trials for global warming skeptics and CBS News “60 Minutes” correspondent Scott Pelley compared skeptics to “Holocaust deniers.” In addition, former Vice President Al Gore has repeatedly referred to skeptics as “global warming deniers.”

But the foundation that the Global Warming Myth rests upon is the infamous ‘Hockey Stick’ graph, depicting a long period of stability, culminating in a power-climb in global temps as a result of man’s overuse of carbon fuels.  That graph has long since been de-bunked, yet the Left continues to shill this line, hoping noone will pay attention and threatening anyone who might contradict them.

The paper’s authors, Toronto-based analyst Steve McIntyre and University of Guelph economics professor Ross McKitrick, obtained the original data used by Michael Mann of the University of Virginia to support the notion that the 20th-century temperature rise was unprecedented in the past millennium. A detailed audit revealed numerous errors in the data. After correcting these and updating the source records they showed that based on Mann’s own methodologies, his original conclusion was flawed. Mann’s original version resulted in the famous “hockey stick” graph that purported to show 900 years of relative temperature stability (the shaft of the hockey stick) followed by a sharp increase (the blade) in the 20th century (see graph). The corrected version of the last thousand years actually contradicts the view promoted by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), and removes the foundation for claims of 20th-century uniqueness.

This seizing of power by way of hysterics, deception, lies and suppression of dissenting views, especially those which are supported by fact, are earmarks of Leftist modus operandi. 

Indeed, it shows in stark contrast, the difference between Americans and Leftists.  Americans believe in reasoned debate and in the end, have loyalty to America.  Leftists on the other hand, have no loyalty to America, and often exhibit contempt for it and its institutions. The Left will use whatever it takes to obtain and maintain power: lies, deception, hysteria, pity for children, love of the planet, fear, animosity of another group, sex or race—anything.  Once they are in power, there is no turning back.

Given the consistent debunking of Global Warming, as presented, and the continued use of lies by the Left demonstrates quite clearly, that this debate isn’t about weather, it’s about political power.
