Gene Disorder Complicates YFZ Sect Custody Fight

Inbreeding.
*shakes head*

Lawyers for the mothers of 462 children taken from a polygamist ranch in West Texas will ask a state appeals court for relief, but the process is slowed by problems in determining the children’s parentage. Texas family law officials continue to investigate allegations of physical and sexual abuse. Wade Goodwyn and Liane Hansen discuss the legal proceedings.

Meanwhile, some of the children in the FLDS group suffer from fumarase deficiency, a genetic disease that causes acute retardation and physical deformation. The disease was spread through decades of inbreeding, according to John Dougherty, an investigative reporter who has written extensively about the polygamist sect.

...an investigative reporter…

Not a scientist, I notice.  More smear, probably, to justify the outrageous police tactics used against those people.

Leftie political philosophy, from a DU commenter:

It doesn’t matter if it’s true or not. RUMOR IS TRUTH. The modern laws of media hype and political warfare have a useful tenet: Repeat ANYTHING or raise false concern over ANYTHING and it is likely to be planted in the conscious/subconscious of many voters.

If indeed the warrants were issued on inadmissible evidence, and yet the other claims against this group are true, this is a HUGE violation of justice.

And 108, I don’t think that too much of this is being fabricated.  If you doubt this, go to the local high school and see how many young ladies you could interest in going to Utah or Texas to become wife #11 to some 50 year old with a potbelly--and she’d get to wear a Mormon Burqa, too, and give up all her music and friends and such.

Actually, don’t do this, because you’ll get arrested, of course.  (and rightly so) The very thought experiment, however, ought to illustrate to us how you won’t exactly find too many pretty young things joining polygamist societies voluntarily.  You get inbreeding, or kidnapping, or a bit of both.

Why the rush to judge, convict and sentence these people before a trial takes place?  In my experience, the press coverage of this kind of thing is always overblown, and when the whole truth comes out, with genuine legal evidence and cross-examination of both evidence and witnesses is conducted, the story usually turns out to be something quite different.
Check all the “news” stories about Katrina, and compare them to what eventually emerged as the truth.

Yeah, but ask the average Joe what happened in New Orleans and you’ll find out they never DID learn the truth, just the spoon fed lies the media fabricated to help their Democrat buddies.

What’s going to happen to US industry when the global warming extremists like John McCain double the price of electricity?  I would think all these factories will close and set up in countries where they aren’t scared of technology.

Yeah, live and let live.  All nutjob “religions” should be allowed to enslave women and children and use them for sex to produce retards.

And if they all wind up dead after being forced to drink poison at gunpoint, who cares?  it’s not the government’s business…

REMEMBER WACO!!!!!!

REMEMBER RUBY RIDGE!!!!!!!!

Jim Jones was framed!
