Shouldn’t he have negotiated first? Couldn’t there have been some appeasement that would have satisfied the rabid bobcat for the moment? Did he have to resort to violence to settle the issue?

NO - there is no way to negotiate with a rabid bobcat. This man did the smart thing. He took his licks until he could kill the damn thing. Condoleeza Rice and George Bush should take note.

I’ve sent an email to the McCain campaign suggesting a phone call from the nation’s most famous Vietnam vet and hero (also currently running for President) to congratulate Mr. Rippy on his own personal courage and heroism.

Obviously, the value to this action to both men diminishes with time.  We’ll see.

You might not be aware, but in martial arts circles Chuck Norris is regarded as a true innovator and a hero besides.

Nonetheless, referring to him as “Ol’ Chuck” is probably not the best way to endear yourself.  Be sure to check under your own bed tonight!
