first day of the last week of ND deer season
Here’s looking at the last week of the ND and MN deer seasons. I’ll have to say as many requests of hunters thinking the season needs to be extended I hear the not so loud reports from successful hunters. One group has 2.5 day’s into the hunt and have filled 15 out of 19 tags. Tough to argue with that kind of success. Indeed I believe some hunters are not finding the deer—some finding deer and missing shots—but that’s why it’s called hunting. And besides having been on the ground in the heart of the super saturated soil and standing corn. I’d not bet the corn will be off in 3 weeks too.
Another note from the Ron Wilson ND Outdoors November issue story on deer hunting in North Dakota. North Dakota’s first “official” deer season was in 1931, and just 2,061 licenses were sold to hunters. Yet, because there we so few deer back then, it wasn’t guaranteed
there’d even be a season most years. And when there was, it likely lasted less than a week, sometimes just 2 ½ days.
