Earth’s Core, Magnetic Field Changing Fast, Study Says

“> 14nl4bd.jpg

Those Global Warming folks have their eyes directed completely inwards, from the atmosphere to the Earth’s surface and have been ignoring all the far more massive influences that affect Earth and Earth’s climate from within and without.

Let’s start with the Earth’s Magnetic Core

Rapid changes in the churning movement of Earth’s liquid outer core are weakening the magnetic field in some regions of the planet’s surface, a new study says.

“What is so surprising is that rapid, almost sudden, changes take place in the Earth’s magnetic field,” said study co-author Nils Olsen, a geophysicist at the Danish National Space Center in Copenhagen.

The findings suggest similarly quick changes are simultaneously occurring in the liquid metal, 1,900 miles (3,000 kilometers) below the surface, he said.

The swirling flow of molten iron and nickel around Earth’s solid center triggers an electrical current, which generates the planet’s magnetic field.

More basics on the Earth’s magnetic field and the Dynamo Theory.

This protective magnetic envelope that shields the Earth, in isolation, might be donut-shaped in cross-section (dipping in towards the Earth at the North and South poles, and at its widest at the equator) but for a strong solar wind that is constantly buffeting the Earth, squishing the part of the field which faces the sun closer to the Earth’s surface, and stringing the trailing edge of the field, on the Earth’s dark side, out into space.

But as anyone who uses a map and compass can tell you, Magnetic North doesn’t correspond with the True North, or the north pole of the Earth’s rotational axis.  It is offset by some considerable distance (e.g. Hudson’s Bay) and even that changes every year.  Indeed, scientists seem to feel that this migration of magnetic north is accelerating in speed.

This is likely a manifestation of a larger event that takes place over time: Magnetic Polar Shift.

Polar Magnetic Shift - a Naturally-Occurring Cycle

The Earth’s North and South magnetic poles have reversed many times in the past and scientists state that we are overdue for the next one.

Of course, when that happens, we lose a great deal of our protection from excess solar and cosmic radiation and bad things can happen.

Sun’s rays to roast Earth as poles flip

Earth’s magnetic field - the force that protects us from deadly radiation bursts from outer space - is weakening dramatically.

Scientists have discovered that its strength has dropped precipitously over the past two centuries and could disappear over the next 1,000 years.

The effects could be catastrophic. Powerful radiation bursts, which normally never touch the atmosphere, would heat up its upper layers, triggering climatic disruption. Navigation and communication satellites, Earth’s eyes and ears, would be destroyed and migrating animals left unable to navigate.

Not being a solid, but a super-heated plasma, the Sun reverses its magnetic field in 11-year cycles.

Global warming via car exhaust????

So the conclusion from all this is that the Global Warming idiots are ignoring all these massive and naturally-occurring forces which are taking place outside and from within the Earth.

We need to point our their massive blind spots when they spout off about the need to burden our economy with the nonsensical Cap-and-Trade BS.

Comments

Not to mention the small matter of Sol’s substantially reduced output over the last 14-16 months. Lack of Sunspots is indicative processes within Sol that we are only now beginning grasp, magnetic anomaly being only one component in this.

Thanks for the write up, MZ. People are really rather clueless about much of what the scientific community is working on.

Oh, and anyone following the NASA links, don’t give up on them too quickly. NASA may be all rocket sciency and whatnot, but their webpages are a bit clunky. Video and animations are hard to get running sometimes, though well worth the effort.

Thanks.

Actually, from what I have read, there are even greater and more distant forces working on the solar system, to include this small Earth, that most have no clue about.

The Warmists might think there is climate change afoot, but even if that is true, it is nothing that man has done or could do to cause or stop it.

...for great justice
