John McCain’s victory speech today was like a textbook recitation of conservative principles, and he promised to govern as a conservative, addressing entitlement spending, making the tax rate cuts permanent, and so forth.  He also promised to stop illegal immigration, in no uncertain terms.
If he was telling the truth about what he actually believes, why did he do all that “maverick” stuff and do all the betrayal of his fellow Republicans?
Was he trying to fool the MSM into supporting him because he appeared to go counter the the conservatism the lefties fear?

Inquiring minds want to know.
