Dems add to majority

House Democrats continued to expand their majority Saturday night after Louisiana state Rep. Don Cazayoux emerged victorious in a special election for retired Rep. Richard Baker’s (R) district.

The win comes two months after Democrats picked up their first seat of the year. In March, Democrat Bill Foster won the Illinois seat of former House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R). That seat, like the Louisiana contest, was in solidly [33 years] Republican areas. President Bush carried the Illinois district with 55 percent and the Louisiana district with 59 percent in 2004.

Cazayoux benefited from a strong fundraising advantage over Woody Jenkins — $810,000 to $490,000 — with much of the help coming from national Democrats. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) spent $920,000 on the contest.

The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) only spent $440,000 on the race and Jenkins received less than $40,000 from GOP members.

You would have to bring that up… :(

Oh the fishes will laugh
As they swim out of the path
And the seagulls they’ll be smiling.
And the rocks on the sand
Will proudly stand,
The hour that the ship comes in.

I wouldn’t look too far into this. I don’t think it means all that much. I don’t think the GOP is going to get creamed as much as some are claiming. If Hillary is the nominee it could be good news for the Republicans.

It appears that our friend HuffPoBob may not be properly attributing the source of all his stories!
After I checked a picture he posted today which he gleaned from the Huffington Post, without attribution, I decided to look back into some of his other posts, like this one, which was featured in the (drum roll please!) Huffington Post!

HuffPoBob! I’d think you’d be proud to shill for the Puffington Host here on a conservative site! Makes you all tingly in your pants like Chris Matthews!

How many other stories have you coincidentally lifted from the Huff Po to shovel here?

For any voter trying to choose between the two candidates for commander in chief, there is no better test than this: When American strategy in a critical theater was up for grabs, John McCain proposed a highly unpopular and risky path, which he accurately predicted could lead to success. Barack Obama proposed a popular and politically safe route that would have led to an unnecessary and debilitating American defeat at the hands of al Qaeda.

Huff Po reprints it May 3.
Huff Po Bob reprints it May 4.

Coincidence? Heh.

RBB:  Proof has concluded that a number of your posts are lifted directly from the Huffington Post without attribution.

Is that true?

pparets: That’s not to say he didn’t include links to the primary sources. It’s just that if he regularly bellies up to the Huff Po bar, they should get the recognition for doing the heavy lifting for him!

poof, as of this comment 8 of the first 10 front page poster haven’t included a hat tip.

Quite a few of your reader blog posts are hat tip free, many are hat tipped, but there are some without.

As you point out, the image source is in the properties, I never neglect including a direct link and after being corrected some time ago, I always block quote.

What are you babbling on about? You give hat tips, when someone else points the way to the material. You don’t tip your hat to yourself for original material. (Surely you’re not THAT dense?)
Or didn’t the Huff Po tell you you could think that? Heh.

Proof, thanks for tracking down the source.  Knowing it’s just Huffington regurgitation explains a lot.

I was looking through the reader blog, trying to find what babbling bob the Huff Po fop was nattering on about. I did find this post: Grandma Got Run Over By Obama, where I didn’t give a “hat tip”, because as a regular reader of NRO, I saw the article, and I linked to it with commentary. Hat tip to Myself might work in the wonderful wacky liberal world of false self-esteem, but here in the real world? Not so much!

You, on the other hand, published a picture, with the only visible byline a credit to the Houston Chronicle. No commentary. No hat tip or credit to the source that provided you with the picture: The Puffington Host!

Then we have this article, regurgitated a day after Huff Po, but only linked to the original.

Are you ashamed to have people know that Huff Po may be your primary source for “news” and “information”? Be a proud liberal! If Huff Po and the Daily Kos are your source of news (and thinking) say it loud!

A “hat tip” is a way of acknowledging the work of others in disseminating news and information, that they have provided a valuable service in doing so.

Don’t hold your breath waiting for “Hat tip rbb”
Heh.

Except when posting pictures from Huff Po.
Never say never, Huff Po Bob. Especially when it’s not true!

For the Huff Po Bob impaired: Picture “properties” are not a direct link! A direct link is one that takes you to the site when you click on it.
