I lived in Atlanta in the 70’s,80’s and 90’s. There was a sizable Cuban population who fled the Utopian Paradise Castro had set up.
Most of them were Cuban Jews, the intelligentsia of Cuba, who left fame and fortune behind them and decided to flee, as did the intellectuals other religions. Most of them became quite successful in the USA contributing to the economic and cultural well-being of the community.
None of them ever talked about the fortunes left behind, only the misery their fellow citizens were suffering.
The Cuban government has very few intellectuals left on that spot on the globe.
The only people left to speak in glowing terms of a Stalinist superiority are accomplished athletes they want to trot out and expect them to ignore the scabby existence they endure in Cuba. Good for them, sometimes the truth is more important than a soccer goal.

How a Democrat would handle this:

By Monday they will have green cards and be signed up for SSI, medicaid,

i dont think there are too many cubans fleeing nowadays. the drs are picking veggies in the fields. oh, a bunch did show up on bal harbor (millionaires, seaside) while i was there.
