Chinese probe discovers craters on the Moon.

BEIJING, China (AP)—China displayed the first image of the moon captured by its Chang’e 1 lunar probe at a gala ceremony Monday, marking the formal start of the satellite’s mission to document the lunar landscape.

Unveiling the image at the Beijing Aerospace Control Center, Premier Wen Jiabao hailed it as a major step in “the Chinese race’s 1,000-year-old dream” of exploring the moon. The black and white image clearly showed craters on the moon’s surface.

Hey did the shock of blast off kill the dog from internal injuries?

Nobody likes a smart ass, Carrick.

The purpose of government shouldn’t be to do good, but simply to refrain from doing evil.

Well, my wife married me.  I think that counts for something. wink

But really!

CNN is running the fact that probe photos are showing actual craters as if it’s some great achievement—keeping in mind you can easily see craters using a pair of binoculars… (Talk about running a propaganda show for somebody.)  Meanwhile, the US pulls off one real accomplishment after the other, and they treat it likes it’s not even news.

Any ideas why that would be?

Whistler, er… what’s that about a dawg again?

I think it was Jules Verne’s moon book where they shot a capsule out of a giant cannon.  The shock of takeoff killed the dog that was riding along.

At least that they way it went in the Classic Comic version.

I just though they might have used the same level of technology.

Geez!  Talk about obscure references!  A comic book version of Jules Vernes book…  (No, it’s not in the book.  Vernes has some crazy nonsense about the cannon shot messing up the Earth’s weather.  A 19th century Al Gore, who would have figured?)

Whistler,

Ya’ know, that Cliff Notes collection of yours might be worth something… if anybody studied literature and literacy anymore.

If I remember right they had some kind of waste chute built into the floor.  It has been a long time since 6th grade.

I thought the real problem was after they landed, and they pressed their bare backsides to the windows and “earthed” everybody!

Now the Chinese have caught up to Galileo eh? What they should’ve done is just gone to the History of Science museum in Florence, Italy and taken a few snapshots and made a couple sketches of the appropriate apparati. It could have saved them 500 years.

Well, expect more gushing of praise from the media when then do!

Why is it that when our media talk about China, they sound like China’s state run media????
