What is even more puzzling is that federal agents found 90,000 in cash in Rep. William Jefferson's freezer last year in his Washington home and this ethically challenged potential felon is allowed to run for reelection. Something is rotten in Washington, D.C. I am sick and tired of the double standards.
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Former Congressman Mark Foley is off the hook.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement says Foley will not be facing state criminal charges for allegedly sending salacious computer messages to underage male pages.
Officials say they couldn’t prove the authenticity of the chats and that too much time had passed since the February 2003 messages to bring any charges.
Back in July, the Justice Department advised Foley’s lawyer that the Florida Republican would not face any federal charges
Foley resigned from Congress in 2006 after being confronted with illicit e-mails and instant messages he was purported to have sent to Capitol Hill pages. Those are high school students who run errands for lawmakers and learn about Congress.
