Illegal Immigration:

- McCain favors business lobbyists’ desires for foreign workers vs. protecting American workers’ wages and jobs.

- McCain’s hopes of giving millions amnesty will saddle American taxpayers with huge costs of $20,000 per illegal per year. ( We pay over $340 Billion per year to their full support right now. )

- McCain has taken the pro-amnesty position in nearly two dozen votes

- McCain only promises to make 2 million of the 12-20 million illegal aliens go home

John McCain is the ranking Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee, so our friend works directly with McCain’s staff on a regular basis. I can’t really share any details, but his experience has been that McCain staffers are habitually heavy handed and abusive, using threats and intimidations to get what they want with complete and utter disregard and disrespect for people to the extent that it would make it very difficult to feel good about a McCain presidency. Maybe that’s how people get things done on Capital Hill, but that’s not the kind of leadership that I want to support.

Willard Mitt Romney

Willard has shown all the integrity of a circus clown. He has repeatedly switched positions on every fundamental issue you care to name at least once which vividly demonstrates he is an appeaser, not a president or even a governor for that matter. While he now evokes Reagan's name at every opportunity he shunned even the questions about the man while running to the Left of Kennedy for his senate seat.

Romney Quiet On Health Care Because His Plan Is A Dismal Failure
http://www.sltrib.com:80/opinion/ci_8111338

Willard was in the business of buying up companies, laying off employees and walking away after they started making a profit. If you want him to manage your business that's just peachy but, he can't run the country on that resume!

Willard permanently banned a list of firearms which he mindnumbingly offers are not inanimate objects...this clown is not just an appeaser, he’s a stone idiot or thinks we are.

Romney Signs Off On Permanent Assault Weapons Ban 7/8/04“Deadly assault weapons have no place in Massachusetts,” Romney said, at a bill signing ceremony on July 1 with legislators, sportsmen’s groups and gun safety advocates. “These guns are not made for recreation or self-defense. They are instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people.”

Mike ‘The Huckster’ Huckabee

The Huckster has no formal education nor experience suitable to prepare him for the presidency. According to one of his own aides his method of governance was merely putting out fires with no planning or forward thinking at all. The Arkansas republican leadership have quite alot to say about the Huckster, so much so, that several of them went to Iowa to warn the voters there about this con artist.

John Bolton backhands Mike Huckabee
http://blog.foreignpolicy.com:80/node/7977

Governor Mike Huckabee (R-AR): Governor Huckabee enjoyed a meteoric rise in the polls in December 2007, which prompted a more thorough review of his ethics record. According to The Associated Press: “[Huckabee’s] career has also been colored by 14 ethics complaints and a volley of questions about his integrity, ranging from his management of campaign cash to his use of a nonprofit organization to subsidize his income to his destruction of state computer files on his way out of the governor’s office.” And what was Governor Huckabee’s response to these ethics allegations? Rather than cooperating with investigators, Huckabee sued the state ethics commission twice and attempted to shut the ethics process down.

A prominent national GOP insider tells Politics1 that he believes Morris—despite his claims to the contrary—is paid for his services through Huckabee media consultant Dick Dresner. According to the source, Morris purportedly gets piece of all Huckabee campaign polling revenues, media commissions and consulting fees through money paid to Dresner’s firm. Explaining the relationship, Huckabee told one GOP pollster: “I feel like I want to take a shower after I meet with him, but Morris is a smart guy and I need him.” http://www.politics1.com/blog-1207.htm

But he’s the kind of combination of conservative views in some ways, but very, almost liberal views in other ways. He’s a very socially compassionate man who obviously has concern for the poor and the working middle class, while at the same time, having rather conservative views when it comes to a matter like abortion or gay marriage. ... I think of all the Republican candidates, Mr. Huckabee would be my personal choice.”

Rudolph Giuliani

"...Immigration politics have similarly harmed New York. Former mayor Rudolph Giuliani sued all the way up to the Supreme Court to defend the city’s sanctuary policy against a 1996 federal law decreeing that cities could not prohibit their employees from cooperating with the INS. Oh yeah? said Giuliani; just watch me. The INS, he claimed, with what turned out to be grotesque irony, only aims to “terrorize people.” Though he lost in court, he remained defiant to the end. On September 5, 2001, his handpicked charter-revision committee ruled that New York could still require that its employees keep immigration information confidential to preserve trust between immigrants and government. Six days later, several visa-overstayers participated in the most devastating attack on the city and the country in history..."http://www.city-journal.org/html/14_1_the_illegal_alien.html

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R-NY): Giuliani came under fire in late 2007 after it was discovered the former New York mayor’s office “billed obscure city agencies for tens of thousands of dollars in security expenses amassed during the time when he was beginning an extramarital relationship with future wife Judith Nathan in the Hamptons…” ABC News also reported that Giuliani provided Nathan with a police vehicle and a city driver at taxpayer expense. All of this news came on the heels of the federal indictment on corruption charges of Giuliani’s former Police Chief and business partner Bernard Kerik, who pleaded guilty in 2006 to accepting a $165,000 bribe in the form of renovations to his Bronx apartment from a construction company attempting to land city contracts.

"Rudy led the charge in the spurious lawsuits designed to bankrupt the gun industry. Following New York, New Orleans, Chicago, Los Angeles and a score of other cities piled on trying to get some free money or just bankrupt the gun industry. The suits were ultimately thrown out and Congress eventually protected the gun makers with the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act. Nevertheless, the damage was done, and I notice that most quality handguns have about doubled in price since 2000, in part due to the legal fees incurred by the gun makers.

In an e-mail to David Hardy, Don Kates analyzed Giuliani’s attitude toward guns in this way:

Throughout his political career Bill Clinton’s “position on the Second Amendment” was a bald-faced lie. Every time the subject arose he falsely proclaimed his “belief in the Second Amendment.” Insofar as there was any truth in this scam, what Clinton meant was that he believed that the Second Amendment does not mean anything.

Rudy Giuliani employs the exact same scam in the exact same way by proclaiming that he believes in the Second Amendment. By carefully reviewing his assertions in the context of his record it is possible to ferret out his real beliefs and intended program. He believes that people living in low crime areas may be allowed (as a privilege, not a right) to have guns for sport. But no one other than public employees and the politically powerful has a right to possess firearms for self-defense. Worse yet, he believes the key to reducing crime consists of disarming everyone who believes in a right to possess arms for self-defense and who lives in an area where the incidence of crime is such that they have some likelihood of using arms for self-defense…"

"…If I were Sarah Brady faced with a contest between Hillary and Rudy I would vote for Rudy. Each wants to ban and confiscate guns. But it is far less likely that a Democrat could get away with trying to outlaw gun ownership than that Rudy could do so…"
http://armsandthelaw.com/archives/2007/03/don_kates_take.php

“I used gun control as mayor,” he said at a news conference Saturday during a swing through California. But “I understand the Second Amendment. I understand the right to bear arms.” He said what he did as mayor would have no effect on hunting.

Very interesting that you have compiled all these negative articles. I expect it is a public service, however, I still find it a little strange.

Do you suppose there is anyone this year we “can” support.??. What about you.??. is there an front runner, an important contender, you would support even if someone could come up with a similar number of negatives about them.??.

I mean I support Duncan Hunter, but his chances are slim and none.

Candidates won’t tell the truth, people have to dig it out for ourselves. Spend awhile going through the Congressional records, they make it exceedingly difficult to find out exactly how people vote on specific items. Same at the state level. So much for transparency in government.

It’s my opinion you find this “strange” because you can’t find this information unless you dig it up yourself. It is a large prayer of mine that people will benefit from my work to actually become informed voters…but, I’m an optimist.

Do you suppose there is anyone this year we “can” support.??.

Who is left?

What about you.??.

This list isn’t for me, I’ve already done my homework and there’s no question left in my mind…for some 10 months now I’ve known.

is there an front runner, an important contender, you would support even if someone could come up with a similar number of negatives about them.??

A genuine list of factual negatives could not be made of my candidate. I have checked each of his admitted failures in depth and I’m very satisfied with the circumstances of each to appreciate what he did and why under an objective eye. The ones the MSM uses against him are mere aspersions where the list above are, to the best of my knowledge, rooted in fact and none of it is spin. Further, if you see any that you have a question about I would be glad to explain it to you.

I mean I support Duncan Hunter, but his chances are slim and none.

It is a sad day in America when one of the only two true conservatives in the race doesn’t stand a chance at winning the nomination…he would make an excellent V.P.

How come there was no information about Ron Paul or Fred Thompson?

In my opinion, Ron Paul makes himself totally unelectable through two issues. The first is legalizing drugs and the second is allowing the dictators and other despots of the world to create mayhem at their will by announcing we will not intercede.
I honestly believe if either or both were allowed to take place we would lose everything we take for granted and hold dear within a very short amount of time. If Paul shows a marked increase in support in New Hampshire, I will add his name to the above list…but, I shouldn’t have to as people have openly laughed at him while he spoke about these issues during debates on national TV.

Fred Thompson is my candidate and whatever has been said about him I have personally dug to the very bottom in finding out all there is to know and I don’t believe he should be held responsible beyond what he already holds himself accountable for….where they don’t even compare in number or severity to the list of credible accusations in fact of the candidates above.

Captain Ed on Ron Paul in the last debate:

I had to wonder a little bit about Paul’s supposed devotion to the Constitution. He said that we can’t afford to spend a trillion dollars on health care because we’re in a trillion-dollar war. Wouldn’t an originalist also mention that the federal government doesn’t have a Constitutional mandate to spend the trillion dollars on health care—and at least acknowledge that it does have that mandate for national security, even if Paul thinks the policy is misguided?

The simple fact of the matter is, you don’t have any negative record on Ron Paul because there isn’t a negative record on him.  All you have is your ‘opinion’ of him.  You claim his unelectable when the fact is he’s very electable but currently unknown.  Legalizing drugs is something I’ve never heard was a priority of his, in the hours of researching video interviews and reading articles on him which I’ve personally done.  And here’s as close as I can get to prove that he’s pro-security for America against foreign threats and aggressors:  “If the people want to go to war, have the congress declare war, go win the war, then get out.”  Let’s see if you permit this comment to remain on your otherwise useful BLOG.  Peace!  Strength!  Freedom!  Go Ron Paul!

I’ll try to type slow so you can keep up Nicky. Paul’s entire record is negative, why else do you think his nickname is Dr. No??

We put elected officials in office to PRODUCE results for the benefit of we, the people…not to refuse to work at introducing legislation and gathering support for same. If he doesn’t want to do that he should return to private life and stick his head back under the stirrups.

His pathetic joke of allowing evil to do what they wish in the world has made Paul infamous where EVERYONE knows who this clown is. The openly laugh and jeer at him in national debates and if you had a ounce of understanding what he proposes you would be also…Unless of course all your interested in is his other mindnumbing offer to legalize drugs…forget it kid, it ain’t gonna’ happen.

The only AMERICAN candidate is Alan Keyes. He wants to restore God, the Declaration and Constitution - restore American Sovereignty (out of WTO, NAFTA, CAFTA, etc. etc. etc.)

And if you think ‘he is not electable’ you are buying into the fear from BOTH parties- already communistic (when they dictate the choices, they are dictating the choice’ Alan Keyes). Neither of the parties will return any rights or sovereignty already stolen from the people - even if you are a good comrade and vote like they say!!!

When I signed the Pledge for America’s Revival it was in furtherance of the oath I swore to as a Marine!!!

I post all this information and you can’t find out ONE issue on your own?? It’s all out there Bubbha.

McCain-Feingold was authored to stop Clinton and Dick Morris from continuing to pour soft money donations far above the established limits for Clinton’s re-election…FAR above the limits.
Fred, as part of his campaign promise to his constituents AND to the American people in fighting corrupt politicians knew something had to be done.

McCain, as the senior senator allowed an attachment provided by the liberal senators to stop our organizations from informing us about candidates up to 90 days prior to an election. Fred had no choice but to vote for it at the time or soft money bribery would have gone unchecked. Fred has said time after time he believes that attachment was wrong verses McCain who says today that it’s “just fine with him because the bill works”. Which we know is BS.

Now, that’s the Readers Digest version but, at least now you’re informed of what actually happened and why.

And seriously, Fred could hardly try less…

Listen up lazy! Well before any of the others even thought about putting out detailed plans to our real situations and even before Fred announced his run he was blogging his ideals, principles, Flat tax, illegal immigration policy, Social Security solution and other real solutions.

Just because you listened to the MSM isn’t Fred’s fault as all this was right here on the net. You’ve should have been doing your own homework.

So, we’ve just finished an experiment in demonstrating Fred was never “lazy”, it was people like you who didn’t take their responsibility seriously enough to find out what the hell is really going on.

Anymore questions!?!?

“In my opinion, Ron Paul makes himself totally unelectable through two issues. The first is legalizing drugs and the second is allowing the dictators and other despots of the world to create mayhem at their will by announcing we will not intercede.”

You are misinformed and showing your ignorance here. Paul believes in a non-interventionist approach. He believes the US should not be meddling in the internal affairs of other nations with our military or CIA. That doesn’t mean he would never intercede. A non-interventionist approach and an isolationist approach (what you are claiming) are very different. Paul wants to talk and trade with ALL nations. However, he would only intervene militarily, if Congress declared war. Paul believes we should follow our Constitution. Remember, like it was done for WWII? Do some basic research before you post incomplete and misleading info next time.
“I honestly believe if either or both were allowed to take place we would lose everything we take for granted and hold dear within a very short amount of time.”

I hate to burst your bubble, but drugs are already legal. Didn’t you know alcohol and nicotine were drugs? There’s a reason prohibition was repealed - it was ineffective and didn’t work. Also, Paul as President would only have power over federal drug laws. Paul would end all federal drug laws and the “war on drugs”. Paul would also pardon all federal non-violent drug offenders. All violent offenders would still be kept behind bars. States would still have drug laws via the 10th Amendment of the Constitution. There’s that word again.
“If Paul shows a marked increase in support in New Hampshire, I will add his name to the above list…but, I shouldn’t have to as people have openly laughed at him while he spoke about these issues during debates on national TV.”

Paul has always treated the other candidates with respect, even if he disagreed with their views. He does not attack them, he attackes their ideas. The same cannot be said for the other Republican candidates, who like to laugh and snicker when someone does not agree with them. Instead of attacking the idea, they attack the messenger. You can be sure their lack of civility and childish behavior has turned off some would-be voters for them, myself included.

You say that you want your page here to be fair and for everyone to see so they can make their decision.

What do you mean by “fair”? If you mean the information is not spin then yes, in that respect this is “fair”. It would be much more accurate to say it’s based on reality…the real records and actions of those listed to compare with what they’re saying today.

You later say in a post that you have dug up stuff on Fred Thompson, but the numbers do not compare to the others on your list.

That’s not what I said and what you just said is spin. What I said was I have dug to the bottom of every smear tactic of every spin attempted on Fred and I know what the truth is on ALL of it.

The numbers do not compare because the MSM is good but, they’re not that good to come up with lists like you see above. After they were allowed to pour over Fred’s records we heard they could find nothing and I mean nothing so, they made up wild interpretations and insinuations pretty much like conspiracy theorists and their little webs of connections they must reach with any nonsense to make their “case”.

Even though you feel that way, shouldn’t it have been posted, since this site is to help people make a decision.

I’m a highly trained and experienced law enforcement investigator and despite what you may have heard I haven’t “felt” anything in a very long time except anger where I often merely respond to injustice out of pure reflex in cutting off the snakes head.

This webpage is to reveal right from wrong and yes, the byproduct of doing this is often to help others.
If I thought for one second that Fred is not driven by pure motivation of helping us rather than stroking his ego and/or delusions of destiny like the others I would not have done this nor would I be particiapting in a race I would view as different day same corrupt shit.

How is it helpful if Ron Paul and Fred Thompson are not included.

Everyone knows Ron Paul’s adherence to the Constitution which we are all grateful but, then he leaves the ranch of reason to legalize drugs and offers the evil in the world may do as they wish because America will not protect the innocent from genocide and we will not interfere with their intercontinental ballistic nuclear missile programs to aim and fire at us…the man has lost any marbles he may have once had. He also has refused to work towards compromise in the House and contents himself with simply voting no on any and all legislation that comes across his desk…That’s not progress and that’s not what we put him in office to do.

I’ve already explained why Fred isn’t up there so, there you are.

Lastly, your opinion shows with this page and is a true biased.

None of the above list is based on bias, it is formed by others evidence of wrongdoing or the comparison of their actions today verses their past as revealing wrongdoing of many different kinds. This is factual information.

Just because Fred Thompson may not have as many issues, it does not mean his issues that he faced or created are not larger then other candidates successes and failures.

Now, you’re diggin’ for something that doesn’t exist. If you find some spin out there and really want to know what it’s about come back here and ask me where I will provide you the detailed facts and sometimes who started the canard in the first place. If you come back spinning what you found, wear an asbestos suit as I’ll flame back harder than you stormed in.

Please update site if you feel you truly want to “help” Americans make their own decision.

Remember, like it was done for WWII?

Some of us, apparently, do not! Do you remember the Lend-Lease Act? FDR sold aircraft and war material to Great Britain against the wishes of many in Congress (many Democrats!), nine months before Pearl Harbor and before Congress declared war on Germany.
Was that “interfering” in foreign affairs? Sending American warplanes to fight in a war we’ve not declared?

Lend Lease was a critical factor that brought the US into the war, especially on the European front. Hitler cited the Lend-Lease program and its significance in aiding the Allied war effort when he declared war on the US on 11 December 1941.

So, this act of an American President was considered an act of war by Adolph Hitler? Would Ron Paul have sat on his hands and waited for Congress to declare war before we would send material help to our allies?
I found this interesting tidbit at wikipedia:

Everett Dirksen, at the time a Republican U.S. Representative, was able to secure the passage of an amendment to the Lend-Lease bill by introducing the resolution while 65 of the House’s Democrats were at a luncheon

Just like today, things get done over the objections of Democrats who are out to lunch! smile

This Paulite has inadvertently helped us to stumble across a great truth! FDR was a leader who took this nation in the direction it needed to go, whether Congress was ready to take us there or not (and it is clear that they were NOT!), and that was to conquer the worldwide threat of Nazism.
REP (Ron Ernest Paul) is NOT a leader! He would wait for 535 individuals (or at least 66 Senators and 218 representatives) to tell him what to do!
Paul can stand there and wave his copy of the Constitution all he wants, but it has the same effect as Neville Chamberlain waving his bogus “peace treaty” telling us there would be peace for our time!
Without leadership and the resolve to enforce it, lip service to the Constitution is merely that: lip service.
The sad fact is, when it comes to keeping this nation safe, Hillary has more balls than Ron Paul!

Where to begin?

Don’t kid yourself, the only reason we are in Iraq and the Middle East in general, is because there is oil over there. Oil that we have become dependent upon. If the US were truly interested in protecting the helpless, we would be in areas like Darfur with our military, etc. Why aren’t we - they don’t have anything we need.

Perhaps you’re also not aware that most Iraqis do not want us there any longer. Most also believe that the US being there is causing most of the sectarian violence. Multiple polls and studies confirm this, including ones commissioned by our own State Dept and Army. Continuing the occupation against the will of the Iraqi people is not democratic and only causes more US resentment in Iraq and the Islamic world. Staying when we are not wanted also violates the fundamental democratic principle of self-determination. The Iraqi people realize that they have to figure it out for themselves now. Why are we not honoring the will of the Iraqi people?

Regarding the ICBMs, did we have to interfere with the USSR’s during the Cold War. No, because we had enough of our own. They knew if they tried anything, they would go down with us. Likewise, if we secured our borders, we would not have to worry about Islamic radicals. Terrorism is a tactic. Instead, our President decided to attack a country that had no WMDS and no al-Qaeda link. Brilliant!

“REP (Ron Ernest Paul) is NOT a leader! He would wait for 535 individuals (or at least 66 Senators and 218 representatives) to tell him what to do!”

You mean like the Constitution says we must do. If the citizens of this country don’t agree with something in it, we have a way to change it. However, not following it for ANY reason or only when it is convenient - is a very slippery slope. Respect for the rule of law is at the foundation of our republic.

“that was to conquer the worldwide threat of Nazism.”
“The sad fact is, when it comes to keeping this nation safe, Hillary has more balls than Ron Paul!”

It is apparent that you don’t understand what motivates the Islamic radicals to attack us. US foreign policy in the Middle East is primary motivation for why were and are going to continue to be attacked.

Bush claimed, “America was targeted for attack because we’re the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world.” This is a gross oversimplification for why we were and are going to continue to be attacked by radical Islamists. The real reasons are are found in:

a) bin Laden’s own words. Bin Laden himself refutes time and time again what Bush is saying about them simply hating our freedoms and prosperity. He gives specific reasons for why were and are going to continue to be attacked - US military forces in their Holy Land (especially Saudi Arabia), US support of Middle Eastern police-states (especially Jordan/Saudia Arabia), unconditional US support of Israel, and the ongoing assault on civilians in Iraq.

Bin Laden also specifically says that Americans should read “Imperial Hubris” by US author Michael Scheuer, if they truly want to understand the reasons for why the US is so hated and will continue to be attacked by radical Islamists. Mr. Scheuer was the former head of the CIA’s bin Laden unit and was charged with capturing or killing bin Laden. Mr. Scheuer understands the motivations of bin Laden and his followers and bin Laden himself agrees.

b) The 9/11 Commission Report. The report determined that the animosity towards the US felt by Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, the “principal architect” of the 9/11 attacks, stemmed “not from his experiences there as a student, but rather from his violent disagreement with U.S. foreign policy favoring Israel.” It also states that this is the same reason Marwan al-Shehhi, the pilot of one of the WTC planes, did it, too.

c) The FBI’s testimony to Congress about motivations for 9/11. The FBI testified that al-Qaeda had specific goals - “One of the primary goals of Sunni extremists is the removal of U.S. military forces from the Persian gulf area, most notably Saudi Arabia.”

Thousands of innocent people are also being killed as a result of the occupation. A conservative estimate is that ~85,000 Iraqi civilians have been killed from 2003 to the present. The 85,000 number is based on media reports - a method known to underestimate deaths because many go unreported. In 2006, Iraq’s health minister himself estimated 150,000 civilians have been killed since 2003. A 2007 study also supports 150,000 civilian dead as well. Even worse, when a statistical model was employed in 2006, it was determined that the civilian death toll could actually be as high as 600,000. To put this in perspective - Human Rights Watch estimated Saddam Hussein’s regime killed 250,000 to 290,000 people over 20 years. The continued killing of these Iraqi civilians only motivates the Islamists to become more radical. Put yourself in an Iraqi’s position. How would you feel if your innocent relatives were being killed? How long before you would begin to despise the US and its occupation of your country?

Since it was passed by Congress, I’m okay with it. I also like the fact that the equipment was paid for by Britain, even though it was just 10 cents on the dollar. However, as a general policy I beleive we should form as few entagling alliances as possible.

Like I said, the main reason we are in Iraq and the Middle East in general, is because there is oil over there. Oil that we have become dependent upon. If we had gotten serious about energy independence sooner, there would be no need for the US to be in the Middle East at all.

Israel plays an important factor too.

While you’re on the pulpit, maybe you can explain to us why Saddam isn’t personally responsible for the war dead in the Iran-Iraq War, the invasion of Kuwait, the withholding of UN aid to Shi’ites, and a myriad of other decisions that he as dictator was personally responsible for.

This all goes back to that old principle “when you start having to stick up for dictators and other totalitarian leaders, you know you’ve chosen the wrong side of the argument”.

Carrick on January 17, 2008 at 05:01 pm

Withholding of food aid to Shi’ites during the ‘90s is estimated to account for about 500,000 dead btw.

Iran-Iraq war… 2,000,000 causalities?

Kuwait invasion… 100,000 deaths?

2nd Iraq War (preventable had Saddam not violated say 17 UN resolutions and not been planing on re-instituting his WMD program after the end of sanctions).

This man put many many people in their grave.  It just shows what type of apologists that Ron Paul attacks that they have to apologize for one of the most brutal leaders in modern history.

Your ignorance is showing again. The main reasons given for going to war in the first place were proven to be false. Saddam was not stockpiling WMDs and Saddam was not harboring/aiding al-Qaeda. Both the 9/11 Commission report and the subsequent Senate intelligence report confirm this. Even Bush himself admits there were no WMDs and that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 in the video below.

You couldn’t be more wrong where regardless of how many terrorists were originally there we took out a mass murdering dictator and the insurgents came to fight us there, not here.

The situation in Iraq now (a civil war) is a direct result of Saddam being removed from power because Saddam ruled with absolute authority there. He did not harbor or aid terrorists because he knew they were threat to his power. The US removing Saddam from power created a power vacuum, both internally in Iraq and in the Middle East. The internal vacuum has allowed Iraq to become a terorrist breeding ground now. What’s more, with Saddam gone, Iran has nothing to keep it in check now either. Cheney predicted this and talks about it in the video below.

Saddam was attempting to keep his WMD program alive and was planning on restarting it after the end of sanctions.

Saddam saw himself in competition with al Qaeda for the hearts and minds of Arab Muslims.  Obviously he didn’t go out of his way to help them, but he did harbor terrorists:  It’s like a Who’s Who in Terrorism:  Abu Nidal, Abu Abbas, Abu Musab al Zarqawi, the list goes on.

He actively trained terrorists with a state-of-the-art training ground at Salman Pak, including an airline hijacking training site.

He actively funded and supported terrorist organizations: <img >

He gave $25,000 scholarships (bumped to $50,000 in 2003) to the families of suicide bombers who attacked Israel.

He created his own army of terrorist, the Saddam Fedayeen, and announced to the world his intention of destabilizing and destroying Israel with it.

So… technically you’re correct that he wasn’t funding al Qaeda.

That’s only because he didn’t need them, he had his own terrorists.  After the fall of Afghanistan, Iraq was the single biggest state-sponsored terrorist nation in the world.

That you right this off as ... he wasn’t funding al Qaeda.  That just illustrates how damned ignorant you are.

We have the largest, most powerful military in the world. Which your idiot Ron Paul would refuse to use unless Americans get killed and Congress decides that we maybe should do something about it.  Foolish to the extreme.  The guy isn’t a leader, he’s a follower, like Clinton.

The main reson we are over there is for the oil. We meddle to make sure the oil keeps flowing because we are dependent on it.  The only thing flowing here is your stream of leftie talking points, which are lies.

Israel plays an important factor too.

You’re right. Care to explain why we are so concerned about Israel? They do nothing for us. Were you aware that the US gives 3x times the aid to Arab countries in the Mideast as we do Israel? Interesting, huh?

While you’re on the pulpit, maybe you can explain to us why Saddam isn’t personally responsible for the war dead in the Iran-Iraq War, the invasion of Kuwait, the withholding of UN aid to Shi’ites, and a myriad of other decisions that he as dictator was personally responsible for.

Saddam is to blame for some of that, but so is a meddling US foreign policy. The US has no qualms about being in bed with brutal dictators when it feels the need to.

When oil interests were threatened, the CIA overthrew the elected Shah in Iran and replaced him with a dictator. Blowback occurred in the taking of US hostages in 1979.

When the Soviets were in Afghanistan, the US backed bin Laden and trained him with our CIA to fight them. That backfired when the Soviets left and bin Laden turned on the US after he saw how many of our troop were in his home country (Saudi Arabia).

When Saddam was fighting Iran, the US supported Saddam and gave him weapons. This backfired when he used the weapons on his own people.

The US protects the Saudi monarchy with its military so that they will sell us oil and buy our weapons. Average Saudi citizens however, can’t stand the US and want the US out of Iraq immediately. http://www.terrorfreetomorrow.org/upimagestft/TFT Saudi Arabia Survey.pdf

If the US were truly interested in liberating the innocent throughout the world, we would be in places like Darfur, the Congo, etc. We aren’t though because they don’t have anything we need.

Open your eyes! We are over there for the oil. What’s more, it is easy to see how a meddling US foreign policy has had disasterous and unintended consequences in the Mideast.

Were you aware that the US gives 3x times the aid to Arab countries in the Mideast as we do Israel? Interesting, huh?  Israel is a vital economy, while those of the Arab countries are in the dumper.  Duh.  We give Israel military aid, so that they can keep their terrorist neighbors at bay, but we have to feed the Arabs.  Big difference.

No, I’m only pointing out how he was wrong about WMDs and the Iraq/al-Qeada link and how even he admits that now looking back. He sold to Americans under false pretenses and he admits it.

What you also fail to overlook is that the US cannot even afford to continue the occupation unless it borrows close to $2 billion dollars per day from countries like China. The US is broke and it is on course for a huge wake-up call.

Perhaps, you’re not aware that most liberal & conservative economists confirm that the US faces a bad financial disaster in the not so distant future, if we do not change course quickly. Yet, Dr. Paul is the only Presidential candidate running with the courage to bring attention to this issue.

Just about everyone else in Washington or running for President pretends like it doesn’t exist and still wants to keep spending and spending by borrowing close to $2 billion per day from China, Saudi Arabia, etc.

Both parties are guilty of this awful fiscal irresponsibility. Democrats by establishing or funding massive entitlement programs. Republicans by funding Medicare Rx drug coverage, the War, and the Military Industrial complex.

We have the technology and resources to do this ourselves, if we want to. I don’t have any problem with Israel. I just want us to stop defending and supporting it with American lives and tax dollars. Israel can defend itself.  It has 168,000 troops and over 200 nukes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israel_Defense_Forces#Service_and_manpower

Mossad has - on more than one occasion - intervened on our behalf, resulting in regrettable fatal accidents and other tragedies amongs folks we can’t get to.

We shouldn’t be doing this. As I have shown there are unintended consequences from this kind of intervention. Plus, we have our own special forces, if we decide we want to take action like that.

I am not defending terrorists. After 9/11 Dr. Paul voted in favor of invading Afghanistan to find Osama Bin Laden. He supports the Letter’s of Marquee and Reprisal to counter terrorism. The issue of Marquee and Reprisal was raised before Congress by Ron Paul after the September 11, 2001 attacks, and again on July 21, 2007. Paul, defining the attacks as an act of “air piracy,” introduced the Marquee and Reprisal Act of 2001, which would have granted the president the authority to use Letters of Marquee and Reprisal against the specific terrorists, instead of warring against a foreign state.

Israel provides safe ports and landing strips for our personnel in the Middle East.

Uhhh . . . last time I checked. Neo-con was neo-conservative. I think of a new conservative as someone who likes big government and warmongering. This is opposed to a plain old conservative. http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/s_196286.html

Our own damn government is destroying us, you have Reps who have become worse than liberals. What does it mean to have the title of Republican any more?

I don’t know even Ron Paul is a little to libertarian for me, I would prefer someone who isn’t in love with Israel, to also stand for constitutionally banning abortion and same sex marriage. There are probably a few other things, but I’ll stop there.

Then when Ron Paul softens up his stand on illegals by saying something like “If our economy was better, than maybe we wouldn’t mind as much” it makes me sick.

But in any case Republicans aren’t Republicans anymore. Everyone’s gone so politically correct and soft that I think America is doomed.

Me:

Mossadegh was overthrown because he threated US oil interests.

You’re thinking regionally again.  Not just US interests.  Free world interests.

So you’re claiming the US didn’t gave Saddam weapons to use against Iran that he then decided to use on his own people? Err . . . wrong! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._support_for_Iraq_during_the_Iran-Iraq_war

The numbers don’t lie.  Our contribution was “in the noise level”.  The vast majority of Iraq’s military was Soviet, German and French in that order:

They drove T-72 tanks, fired German artillery, used Chinese, Soviet and German mines, shot Russian AK-47s, flew French Mirages.  US involvement was at the level of a few hundred anti-tank missiles.  Not even of tactical importance.

The way I see it, there are a lot of people who think it’s hip to hate on the US, even if you have to fictionalize history to carry it off.  Apparently you Ron Paul supporters are among them.  That’s just shameful.

Ha . . . not according to your boy Winghunter. Which is it?

Winghunter isn’t actually my son.  I know there’s a resemblance.  LOL.

You’re right. The 9/11 report is wrong. There was a collaborative relationship. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5223932/

Reading comprehension isn’t your strong suit is it?

I said there wasn’t a collaborative relationship between al Qaeda and Iraq. Now you’re just making yourself look goofy.  Iraq sponsored terror, and was in competition with al Qaeda for Arab Muslims hearts and minds.

How about the right of Iraqis wanting us to leave now? Did you forget about that? Did you ever think maybe most Iraqis don’t want a democracy?

Your Jedi mind-reading tricks aren’t working.

Most Iraqis don’t want us to leave.  Most want democracy.  Where do you get that crap?

Me: You asked what Israel does for us. I answered. If you want to debate the merits of Israel’s efforts on our behalf, thats another matter.

Agreed.

BTW: Our military is there for one reason only: OIL! Without which, our economy would collapse in a few weeks with untold suffering and death for millions.

Bingo. Give this man a prize! This is also why we need to start seeking energy independence ASAP.

“We shouldn’t be doing that.” Political assassinations are as old as mankind. Are you suggesting that we should not have attempted the assassination of Hitler, if the chance had presented itself? How many lives would be saved if we could eliminate Bin Laden with one shot?

Assassinations during a declared War or going after someone who attacked us first are one thing? Overthrowing governments or attacking a country in the name of oil is something entirely different. I am not against all war, only pre-emptive war.

me: My answer to all your “questions”(leftie talking points, every one), is that I’m not a terrorist, and yes, I want a President who is a leader, and who will act to defend us, not a weakling who won’t fight those who intend to destroy us.

Most of your questions contained the usual leftie lies, btw.

I never claimed you were terrorist. Are you saying that I am, because I believe in the liberties granted under the Constitution? Keep telling yourself its okay for the government to spy on its own citizens without a warrant. Don’t slip too far on that slope.

Why do they want to destroy us? I have shown why. We are not disliked by Muslims for our freedoms, we are disliked for what we do via US foreign policy in the Mideast.
Think about it, if it was that simple, why haven’t other Western-type free societies attacked by Muslims? Why wasn’t Canada attacked? Or as bin Laden says, “Contrary to what Bush says and claims—that we hate freedom—let him tell us then, Why did we not attack Sweden?”.

You’re right . . . Muslims aren’t pissed that we are in their country even though they want us out. They are not pissed that we are building bases and an embassy the size of the vatican in their country. They are not pissed that we give unconditional support to Israel. They are not pissed that over 150,000 of their relatives have been killed since this occupation. They are not pissed that over 1 million of them are refugees now. They are not pissed that our troops are in what they consider their holy land. Average Muslims are not pissed that we support middle-eastern police states (monarchies) like Saudi Arabia to get oil, while they go hungry.

None these things would cause any Muslim to even think of attacking the US.

You’re right . . . the former head of the CIA bin Laden unit is wrong when he says it’s US foreign policy causing us to lose the war of terror, which is a tactic by the way, not a country.

Apparently you’re too dense for sarcasm. The 9/11 report determined there was NO collaborative relationship. But the Report is wrong according to you. You know more than a Commission staffed by nearly 80 full-time employees, contractors, and detailees that worked for close to 2 years to prepare a full and complete account of the circumstances surrounding the 9/11 attacks.

Most Iraqis don’t want us to leave.  Most want democracy.  Where do you get that crap?

Oh I don’t know, maybe multiple polls and studies, including ones commissioned by our own State Dept and Army. Your ignorance is showing again!

I never said you did; I only said that none of your leftie fantasies bothers me because I’m not a terrorist, and the Patriot Act keeps me safe from terrorists.
Are you really that dense?

Radical Islam declared war on the rest of the world 1300 years ago, and in a campaign of terror and murder(conversion by the sword), massacred their way across the ME and Eastern Europe.  Sorry you don’t know that.

If govt control of the economy were the way to go, the Soviet Union would be the richest, most powerful nation in the history of the world.

Thanks to Obama, America remains the only country where it is illegal to drill our own oil!

I think of a new conservative as someone who likes big government and warmongering.

Wrong.  A neoconservative is one who is newly conservative; it was originally applied to Jews(who were traditionally liberal) who had seen the light and embraced conservatism.  Your antisemitic smear is just wrong, as I said before.
I was right, you don’t know the origin of the word.  More leftie ignorance.

The 9/11 report determined there was NO collaborative relationship.

The 9/11 commission was headed up by Jaime Gorelick,  a faithful Clintonista who wanted to deflect the blame from her old boss and herself.  At his command, she created the barrier between the intel agencies that kept them from pooling the info that might have prevented the attacks.  Nice source, leftie.

What I’m saying is no on “collaborative relationship with al Qaeda”.

Yes on “sponsors its own brand of terrorism”.

LMAO at you.

Carrick on January 17, 2008 at 09:59 pm

Robert108, I have never accepted an operational relationship between al Qaeda and Iraq.  As I pointed out above there are strong linkages between Iraq and terrorism, plenty of evidence that Saddam very much wanted to be seen as the savior of the Arab Muslim people, and so forth.

I just so no evidence that a megalomaniac like Saddam was ever very interested in “sharing the glory” with groups like al Qaeda.

A lot of people in this world don’t like Americans very much at all (French, Canadians, etc). They don’t do anything about or attack us, though. Why? The difference is we are not in their country telling them how to live their lives by force. Your problem is that you don’t look at our actions from the Iraqi or terrorist perspective.

They told us before 9/11 that they were pissed at us for being in Saudia Arabia and supporting Israel unconditionally.

As I have shown, we don’t need to defend Isreal, it can defend itself just fine. You actually believe that instead of protecting our borders from a few more bad guys 1/2 a world away or taking out specific individuals responsible for 9/11, it was better to go over and invade an entire country? Terrorism is a tactic practiced by individuals - it has no army, no navy, no air force, no ICBMS. Yea, going over there, made a lot of sense. That didn’t piss them off even more.

What’s more, not only did it make it worse, the power vacuum created by removing Saddamm has now created breeding ground for even more terrorists. And Iraqis and Muslims in the region who used be indifferent, now hate us and want us to leave immediately. Brilliant plan!

Numerically there are fewer terrorist now than before the Iraq invasion, they are much less well organized, less well trained and much less well funded.

What part went wrong again?

I believe in all those things. However, I interpret a “strong national defense” as just that - a defense. Pre-emptive war is not a defense. I also believe in going War only when it is declared. If that makes me a “leftie” in your eyes, so be it.

me on January 17, 2008 at 10:38 pm

Me, your brilliant strategic plan for fighting terrorism seems to be “let’s hide in the closet and hope they go away”.

News flash to Mr. Genius!  You don’t win wars that way!

The strategy we are employing probably will work, even if it’s not one I would have selected. Fight them on their land, kill enough of them, and eventually the rest will figure out that you can’t f**k with us.

Being afraid of pissing them off frankly will just embolden them.

According to the NIE it is worse now than it was before, but you know better than our own intellience agencies, right?

“The Iraq conflict, while not a cause of extremism, has become a cause for extremists,” Goss said in his first public testimony since taking over the CIA. Goss said Abu Musab Zarqawi, a Jordanian terrorist who has joined al Qaeda since the U.S. invasion, “hopes to establish a safe haven in Iraq” from which he could operate against Western nations and moderate Muslim governments.

“Our policies in the Middle East fuel Islamic resentment,” Vice Adm. Lowell E. Jacoby, director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, told the Senate panel. “Overwhelming majorities in Morocco, Jordan and Saudi Arabia believe the U.S. has a negative policy toward the Arab world.”
